buglethemin Report post Posted July 31, 2010 I am looking for help with a muzzle brake. I purchased a remington 700sps tactical in 308. It has a threaded barrell in 5/8x24 threads and having a hard time finding a muzzle brake to fit that will just screw on. I ordered one online at nelson tactical but its for a AR-10 type barrel and did not fit all the way on. I've checked brownels, midway ect but was wondering if anyone here has purchased one for their remington and put it on. Thanks
30-378shtr Report post Posted July 31, 2010 your best bet would be to contact a reputable muzzle break manufacture and see if they can tap a custom one for you. They should be able to without much of a hassle. Try Vais break or Bruce McArthur's design found here http://flintandfrizzengunshop.com/Services___Supplies.html Best i've ever used. catclaw Report post Posted August 1, 2010 I really like the Badger ordinance Thruster brake. It is available threaded 5/8-24 but like any brake of this style, it has to be timed. http://www.badgerordnance.com/productgroup...id=accessories#
sjvcon Report post Posted August 1, 2010 I had one custom made for my son's rifle though David Van Horn (The Gun Shop) in Mesa. It works really well. I think he manufactures both break and thread protectors right there in his shop, so specifying the threads shouldn't be an issue I wouldn't think. 480-892-9630. jeffro Report post Posted August 3, 2010 5/8 X 24 is a very standard thread size for brakes and cans. It should not be hard to find one that fits. The Badgers are good brakes.
