Winchester Model 70 .225 Winchester Rare

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've got a tack drivin .225 Winchester I'd like to get rid of. It's a good shooter and overall condition I'd put at about 85-90%. Everything is original on this gun. The stock has a few scratches on one ding that are noticeable. The barrel has plenty of life left. It's got a turd BSA scope on it that comes with it for free because I'd throw it away if I kept it!

As some of you may know this is a rare gun and was only made for a few years. It "replaced" the 220 Swift, but never became popular due to many of winchesters poor marketing techniques. There are not many out there and this was made in 64. I've got serial numbers for those who are interested.

As for what it comes with....gun, scope, rings, base, dies, and about 150 rounds of spent brass (the sling in the picture I'm gonna keep). The brass is hard to find and factory ammo is even harder to find.

For those of you that like collecting rare guns this is one of them. I like shooting guns and need to get a .243 for my wife and thats the reason for selling. If anyone has a left handed .243 they would like to trade that can be arranged as well.

Looking to get $500 bucks for the whole shabang and look around...that's a good deal! PM me if interested. I live in Tonto Basin but am in the valley often.

that ain't a pre 64. the .225 is a semi rimmed case. not quite like a rimmed case like a .30/30 and not quite rimless like almost everything else. they shoot well and would be a great falling block cartridge or double rifle. the are comparable to a .22/.250 or a swift. be a nice gun to have and they aren't going to make them anymore, so it is rare. looks to be in good shape, but i don't need one. Lark.
