crazyaboutcoues Report post Posted September 14, 2005 I've never been much of a shed hunter, but for some reason this year I'm taking prisoners. Found these this past weekend. The one on the right measures 39 and change. The one on the left has great mass. I think this guy was on his last days. any way enjoy. I'll add a pic of a 100+ coues buck that was camera shy. I waited for him for about thirty minuets to show his rack. He's four on one side and three on the other. This is the best I could get. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/cra...dtsb-day020.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/cra...dtsb-day010.jpg Some NM coues country http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/cra...dtsb-day016.jpg

crazyaboutcoues Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Mike, The horn growth is the best i've seen in about ten years. We've had steady rain all summer. I'll be headed to your area this weekend so hopefully we can find some beasts

crazyaboutcoues Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Dan...I don't live in a Golf Course, BUT... I have a wife that demands the grass to be green. That way I don't think it's greener on the other side. hehe I did found those sheds in one day.
ScottAdams Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Way to go Tommy! Do have some stand sites picked out? January is really not the far off, 3 1/2 months. Scott
crazyaboutcoues Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Scott, I have six different stand locations so far. And there scattered throughout the unit. There is one water hole that is being pounded right now but it's right next to a main road. I'm planning a trek today to find the perfect saddle leading to this water hole. BowhuntCoues Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Nice finds, especially the buck. Good luck hunting him and dont worry bout the wife I have one like that too, lots of green grass at the house.
crazyaboutcoues Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Just got back from the trek. Lots and lots of sign. Didn't find any sheds, but I did scare the living daylights out of a Coues doe that was crashed on a ridge. It was pretty funny I wasn't ten yards from this doe when she bailed. Tried to get a pic but my camera was in my back pack i didn't want to make any noise. Man this is going to be an awesome hunt come January. I'm setting the bar at 100". I might end up going home with Tag soup. But oh well.
DEERSLAM Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Nothin wrong with tag soup if you don't find that toad you've been looking for My take on tag soup this year: I'm huntin hard for a big buck on the hunts I'm doing this year but when push comes to shove and it goes down to the wire I'm taking some meat home with me. Rising cost of gas, etc. I haven't had this view on my hunts in a long time but times are changing.
ScottAdams Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Tommy you may be like me and prefer the hunt over the kill. I know as much as I like to hunt I would prefer to kill later in the hunt if I'm the only one with a tag so my hunting time isn't cut too short. This year my 15 year old son has the December tag with me, so if I can find a monster early on I'll put the smack down on him and then continue hunting with my son. No, he's not shooting the monster. He's got the rest of his life for that. Scott
crazyaboutcoues Report post Posted September 15, 2005 I don't know Scott, Austins getting to be a pretty big fellow. He might put the smack down on you, then take the monster. hehe Has Fred said anything about the Western Walking Sticks?
