I hunted there last year in October. Seemed like closer to the border the deer got bigger. Glass, glass and glass more!

I've hunted quite a bit in 36b. there are some good sized bucks but you better be ready to lace your boots up tight and hike a good ways off the road because from my experience there are a ton of hunters and a lot of them stay close to the roads. Be real careful though there are a lot of illegals and drug smugglers coming across down there. We finally decided this year that things were getting too scary down there so we put in for units away from the border. I suggest having a big group of people to camp with or camping at a camp ground. good luck!

Does anyone know if that area that they shut off down there is actually shut off completely, or an enter at your own risk kind of deal. Thinking about a leftover tag, but wanted to clarify this first.

It is the same as it has been the last 5 years. With the addition of the nice signs that the federal government put up recently stating the safety hazards of illegal activity going on . Seems funny they will put up signs but tell the media on a daily basis is that is not that bad ... the red area in this PDF is the closed area. http://www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges/arizo...DFs/Closure.pdf

So, is it the same as the last 5 years, meaning you can go anywhere at your own risk, or is the red zone closed to all traffic no matter what? I have a honey hole near or in that red area and just want to know if I'm allowed to go in there.

So the red zone has been closed for five years. Doesn't look like much is being done to take it back. What a joke. We are over in the middle east protecting the liberty of others (and I am not opposed to that), but we cannot clear our own land of a bunch of scum bags who have effectively taken the land for themselves. Pathetic.
