BML Report post Posted July 11, 2010 Any ideas on what this is? Almost looks like a very small bear cub, but I am almost certain I would have got another picture of it, or at least one of momma bear. My camera is set on the 3 shot bursts, which are 3 seconds apart. This picture is the middle picture of the three. It's not there on the first or last picture. Kind of wierd. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted July 11, 2010 Well, it does look like a tiny bear cub, but if the date on the cam is right, then it seems like the cub is way too small for this time of year. How big are those rocks in the right foreground of your pic? So I wonder if it couldn't be a coatimundi? The face pattern is just about right, but the legs seem too thick and I don't see a tail.... The dates are correct and those rocks are small. It looks like a bear to me, but that would make it a very small cub. Cubs this time of year should be 80-90 pounds or so, but this bear can't be more than 25-30 pounds. Those rocks are small. Also the shadow of the tree is the tree I have my camera on and it's only about 8 inches across or so. Maybe I will get lucky and it will come back and give me another pic. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted July 11, 2010 Ilene, you are not bad at photo editing...I came up with about the same thing. Not too much more you can do with it. Sure looks like a bear, but it looks way too small. It looks like it would only be 6-8 inches tall? The bear cub I saw last week was way bigger than this tiny thing. Maybe your hunting buddies put a stuffed animal out there to mess with you??
