KGAINES Report post Posted September 18, 2005 Now that I think of it the moon was full, and it was calm, and you know it had just stopped raining, wait I also think that it was windy earlier that day. All of those aren't accurate and and meticulous, I have a photographic memory, at least I thought I did. In reality I think some people have success doing certain things and remember as much as they can about it, but nobody remembers everything, notes would help, but I personally would feel that was way to much like work. WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted September 19, 2005 Well, I try to take notes, I keep a little journal but moon or what not won't determine if I go out or not. As one wise man ( I use that term loosely Bullwidgeon ) said, to this effect, If I waited until the moon or whatever was perfect I'd probably not ever get out. I get such limited amount of time in the hills that I go when I get to go, (when my wife says I can. ) If there is a full moon the night before, then well good. If not then that is good also at least I am out.
Guest Reynaldo de la Torre Report post Posted September 26, 2005 Have heard many times that deer will not move around much when it is windy. Have also heard that when there is substantial moonlight, the deer will be active at night and not in the day. Was wondering what you guys w/ lots of experience in the field think abt this. Mark <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have heard of hunters who stay home when there is a full moon. I think there is some truth to it - at least. But, the deer are still there somewhere. It is not like they go away or anything. Many years ago, I hunted hard looking for a big COUES I had been watching and trying to get close to, after a full moon. I saw very few deer that day. I ended up miles from my truck and when the sun went down I started back. I was almost run over by deer comming off the hills ! My point is that they were there, they were just stashed in the thick stuff. I changed my strategy and got a right decent buck. My dad taught me long ago to hunt the brush when it's windy and after a moonlit night. Good luck.
