coueshunter Report post Posted June 29, 2010 I ended up a few years ago buying a Leica Pinmaster 700. I got it from Cabelas and really think Leica makes the best. If I was you, I would shop for a used leica or just buy a new LRF900...............I used bushnell and in low light it was hard to get any accurate readings past 200 yards..............just my 2 cents...............AT............. .270 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 just get a leica to start with. i bought the top of the line leupold and ended up taking it back. 350 was about it most of the time with it. really dissapointing. get a good one right off. miy leica will read 1300 off of shiny stuff. will do over 1000 on about anything. sometimes way over 1000. or you can really spend a lot of money and get a swarovski. Coach Report post Posted June 30, 2010 I have an older Nikon, LRF800 if memory serves, and it has always been very reliable and accurate out past 800 yards, and wasn't very expensive - around $200 - but that was something like 12+ years ago. If I had to replace it, I would look hard at the Leica as well. I have used a few Leica Geovids and found the range finder built into the binocs to be exceptional - I would think that their dedicated range finders would be hard to beat. SDHunter11 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 +1 on the Lieca, I have the 900 and I can get in the field reading out past 1000 consistently. It is very small and compact and the glass is great in it. My buddy uses it instead of his cheap pair of binoculars. I also use it golfing and can hit the flag on a breasy day out to 500+ yards! youngbuck Report post Posted July 1, 2010 I prefer leicas, LRF or the CRF both work great. The swaro "reticle" is too big for me. I have an older nikon 600 I use for archery stuff if I dont have the geovids that works. I would imagine they have gotten some good stuff since I bought mine 5 years ago.
