Garage Logic Report post Posted June 27, 2010 he "plays" a hunter on tv like guys play the part of cowboys or soldiers in movies. the don't have a clue what they're doing, they're just actors. all waddel and 99% of the other hunting personallities are is actors. This is just not true. He is a past turkey calling national champion more than 10 years ago (before he was ever on TV). I don't think actors hone their turkey calling skills - outdoorsmen do. I agree that the hunting shows are pretty lame, but what's with all the haters here? Different strokes for different folks

Coach Report post Posted June 28, 2010 Obviously, this thread has nowhere to go but down, so this will be my last post on it. All I have to say is, sorry Amanda for the direction it has taken. My intent was not for it to end up as it has, just to try and have a civil discussion about a trend I'm seeing in our sport that something I don't particularly like and wanted to get some other hunters' opionions about. Please feel free to pull it if you like.
.270 Report post Posted June 28, 2010 if waddel was ever in my camp i'd pull down his diaper and spank him and send him down the road to his mama. Lark.
Str8Shot Report post Posted June 28, 2010 if waddel was ever in my camp i'd pull down his diaper and spank him and send him down the road to his mama. Lark. Lark remember he wears the Waddel signature series Scent-Lok diapers so be careful !
tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 28, 2010 I love being able to turn on the outdoor channel and watching the hunting and fishing programs and then find myself cusssing because there is more advertisement than program. I wish I could be one of the ones who hunt & fish for a living but it's not going to happen. I know how you feel Coach and I'm right there with you but that is just what it is. I don't buy something because of an individual endorsed a product. It's the way things are done and weather we like it ot not we can't change it. There are names on everything we buy. I think this is an awesome topic and most can relate to your thinking. TJ
Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted June 28, 2010 Awe heck... it is just good marketing... the association factor, sells.... It doesn't bother me... I buy what I like regardless who's name is on it... Oh... and Jason... that Bone Collector is Cool... even though I don't have anything with it on it... I like it!
HaYen Report post Posted July 2, 2010 Last years NRA show was here in the Valley. I saw the bone collector crew and asked where O'Neill Williams was? I was a little embarrassed later and T-Bone gave me a sticker. But hey I don't spend a lot of time watching TV and he doesn't hunt AZ ... I think? Does he? ac guy Report post Posted July 4, 2010 I want to know why every show has to have cheezy music constantly playing. Annoys the heck out of me. Maybe I'm just a grump. I like the Primos videos. While they film the hunt it's just the sounds of the outdoors you hear.
.270 Report post Posted July 4, 2010 they're just crummy shows filmed and acted in my stupid people. i tried to watch one called buck commander last night. took about 45 seconds to get full of that. i'da barfed in 2 more seconds. i sorta like the hunters specialities that have wayne carloton on em. if that fat phony big al is on it, forget it. what dumb tub. Ernesto C Report post Posted July 4, 2010 Even do they never appeared on T.V. shows ( that I know) The guys that made the videos "Dead On" Elk and coues and also the ones that did "Extreme Coues" Darr Colburn and Jay Scott along with some members/outfitters of this site that had posted their hunting adventures here...you/they are my heroes, I just hope they will keep posting or making more videos. Hey Jim, (COOSEFAN) have you made another video of your hunts? Ernesto C
fatfootdoc Report post Posted July 4, 2010 The worst hunting show, bar none, is the guy that acts like he is teaching a university class and the "students" all ask questions etc, there is girl with a wig and she looks exactly like Hillary Clinton!!! When I am between surgeries on Wed. it comes on, I try to make sure I have a longer surgery so I dont have to watch it while I wait for my next one to start. It is horrible!! As far as endorsements, well which one of us would turn down the opportunity to endorse a good product? get paid to hunt, i would do it in a heartbeat!!! Seems some of the skin on the forum has gotten a little thin as well??!!
Jay Scott Report post Posted July 4, 2010 Guys- Just making an observation..... We are all hunters! I have a problem when other hunters attack other hunters. I do agree the sponsorship stuff and some TV shows are less than dersireable at times but I do not like it when guys call someone out by name and make derogatory statements about them. I have met some of these guys mentioned and I can assure you that they are 100% hunters. Can't we all get along without making lame statements about other hunters styles or methods of take. BTW, I don't think anyone would be pulling Waddell's pants down without a full blown redneck fistfight. Lets think about all of the good that some of these guys mentioned have done for our sport.
