Arrow Speed

Recommended Posts

I am curious about everyone's arrow speed.

I am shooting an arrow at 260 fps from a bow with an IBO rating of 306 fps.

Setup:

Buckskin by Reflex

28" draw

~64 pounds (I don't have a scale handy)

Whisker Biscuit rest

Easton Axis:@ 26 1/4"; Blazer vanes; 100 grain Muzzy

w/release

Thanks,

Darren

I used to have a bow that would shoot around 250 fps with a hunting arrow and broadhead, but it was so finicky about shooting form that I found it almost useless for hunting. It was an older model PSE. I am sure the new models of bows are much more forgiving.

My current bow is a Buckmaster that shoots around 220 fps at 65 lbs. My short draw length (26.5") makes it difficult to get up to the high speeds a lot of guys are getting, but that's ok because I don't really take long shots.

My next bow will be a Bowtech because they are short, chubby, lefthanded guy friendly. :D

I shoot a Hoyt Razortech at 29" and at about 68#. I shoot 28 1/2 carbon express CX 300 with 100 gr. tips. My bow shoots in the mid 280's.

Desert Bull,

Bowtech is a great bow, but be careful with going with short. You may have the same problem that you had with the PSE. Short bows can become very grip critical causing it to be finicky. But on another note its good too see you shoot the right way "Left Handed" the right handed people just will never be as good as us.

When I say "short", I mean short draw length. For I am vertically challenged.

I have an older PSE bastered model bow. I too have a short draw length so even with 74# of draw weight I am only getting 245fps. My arrow is at 375gr?(I think) with the 100grn broadhead. My draw weight and speed I am sure of, the arrow weight I am not.

I have had it now for 3-4 years now and I still have not taken anything with it, but it sure is lots of fun!

I use a Parker Force multiplier with a 30 inch draw length shooting carbon express CX200 arrows at 28 1/4" length. 85 grain titanium broadheads at 69lbs. Last time it was chronographed it was shooting around 310.

I am shooting a Bowtech Allegiance

70# 30" draw

carbon weave 300's

100 grain Montec Tekans

total arrow weight is 383 grains

Trophy Ridge drop zone

Chrono'd at 308 fps

I finally got it tweeked and ended up backing the let off down to 70% so I will chrono it again, should gain a little speed.

So far this bow is all I hoped it would be, quiet, smooth, and easy to shoot, now just got to get blood on it.
