ScottAdams Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Well, I hope you're right Bret. I guessed him to be at least 105. I know from other views of him that he is as wide as his ears. G-2's that reach way up there (maybe 8 or 10 inches) and very good mass. I saw 3 bucks today and all of them were out there at the one mile marker. I saw what I think was this buck for about 10 minutes befrore he went over the ridge. I now believe I have a better idea of where he roams, and might be able to find hime when December rolls around. We'll see. I put some fresh batteries in the trail cam and will check it again in a couple of weeks. Scott
bullwidgeon Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Anything with 9 inch G2's, over 4 inch H measurments, and beams pushing or maybe over 18 should be shot first and scored later. Go ahead and ground check that one . Bret M.
ScottAdams Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Might have to do that Bret. I don't think he quite rivals the legendary Gorilla but he's a great buck none the less. You have any time off in Dec?
DEERSLAM Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Scott, Looks like you are doing a great job of stacking your odds come Dec. Good luck.
bullwidgeon Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Just my standard 4 day "weekends". Maybe I can make it over there before Christmas if you guys are going to even bother hunting that early . I used most of my vacation time chasing elk and carp in September and then took a few days off for Serna's and my hunt in 36A in a few weeks. He is almost like the Gorilla. Add another 5 or so inch tine in there between the eyeguards and G2's on both sides and then lengthen the beams a little, add a big swelled up carp looking neck, a little scared looking weener buck in behind him and a bunch of worn out looking does in front of him and then a few inches of snow on the North slopes in the picture and walla, you have the Gorilla . At least thats how I remember it anyways. I do remember glassing alot of that country over there very hard last year and not seeing anything like the one in the picture. You have a major head start just knowing where he is at now. Bret M.
ScottAdams Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Bret, sounds like he looks just like the gorilla except for the few things you mentioned. I may be working the 1st weekend and hopefully I'll be hunting after that. Thanks for everyone's imput, I think we're all in the ballpark on what this buck scores. Maybe in 2 1/2 months we'll find out for sure. Scott
ScottAdams Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Here's a comparison with the biggest I saw last year on the Dec. hunt. Man what could've been. Scott
