fx4hauler Report post Posted June 15, 2010 I have a JanSport external backpack that I plan to use for some deer hunting/backpack trips this winter. Was wandering how some of you attach your bow to your backpacks.

bowhuntaz1 Report post Posted June 15, 2010 I have a bow sling. I like it for open country. I wish I had something else for rough country
fx4hauler Report post Posted June 15, 2010 I have a kellty with side pockets and just use the top clips on them threw my pse riser. I was thing of using the compression straps but was not sure if that would be enough. Looking at some of the backpacks that are made to carry bows and most have some sort of device that holds the lower cam. Some even have straps that also holds the upper limb. fx4hauler Report post Posted June 15, 2010 I have a bow sling. I like it for open country. I wish I had something else for rough country A sling sounds good but with a 60# pack (5-6 day hunt), hunting rough country, and being fat and old, two bad knees (ok that's all the excuses i have) I use two treking poles so my hands need to be free. I've tried using a sling before but seems a little clunky with the treking poles.
AZelkhunter Report post Posted June 15, 2010 when i've got alot of weight like that i like to put my bow horizontally across the top of my pack and i just use good bungee cords to hold everything tight, but this can be a problem if your planning on hiking through some thick country
krp Report post Posted June 15, 2010 Eberlestock buttbucket will work/attach with most packs. Works the same as the X1 daypack that has the bucket and tether built in. I won't hand carry my bow anymore all day. http://www.paysonoutfitters.com/servlet/th...l/41/Categories Removing the bow is easy, the negative I've found is in brushy areas your arrows can get pulled out by limbs, I now bungee them to the bow.
