Red Rabbit Report post Posted June 14, 2010 With the forecast calling for high temp around 85* and rain cloud, Rica and I headed west of Page to Coyote Buttes. This is an area of colorful and convoluted sandstone. With BLM permit in hand, I drove across the sands to Cottonwood Teepees area in the southern part of Coyote Buttes. After the miday rains and high winds passed, we hiked aver some sandy ridges to the sanstone features. The last ime I was there, the sky was bluebird in nature, so I was hoping for nice clouds in the background. However, as evening neared, the stormclouds thinned. Sunday morning dawned with a few light clouds. Not as many as what I was hoping for, but the mule ears had yellow flowers for a nice foreground element. The rest of the morning was spent walking around a new area and revisiting past favorites in the buttes. With the warm noon sun overhead and all the puppies tired, Rica and I ventured back home to Flagstaff.
