firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted June 14, 2010 Well, a while ago I sent my 270 wsm back to Bettin custom guns because I had a high pressure load that locked up the action... Well, it came back UPS and had a busted stock. No big deal, as they cut a check to fix the stock without any problems.. Well, I got it back today and ANOTHER F up!!! This time it came with a messed up elevation turret. I first noticed that it was off of "0" so I went to turn it back to "0" and the turret fell off!!! firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted June 16, 2010 I ship fedex all the time, but for some reason, even after it came messed up from UPS last time, he decided to use them again... I am kind sorta thinking the smith did it, because the box is perfect and it is a weird mess up for shipping...

WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted June 16, 2010 Like my dad says, if it hurts to hit your head, quit hitting your head. That goes for smith or shipper
hunterdude Report post Posted June 18, 2010 Who is the smith and where is he? Man if the box isn't jacked up I'd say you need to find another riflesmith! IMO
GingerRam Report post Posted June 18, 2010 That sucks man... I had my best ever Coues mount sent to me in Washington when I was there. Used UPS and opened up the wood crate, which was damaged to find the antlers hanging off each side of the head.. Broken Skull Cap... So much for booking that one.. I hope your luck improves
CouseforLife Report post Posted June 23, 2010 My dad use to ship guns all the time. He swore to never use UPS when he ships because of this. He shipped guns with fed ex for years without one problem. When people would ship to him UPS one out 5 came with a problem. In one instance the box did not have a mark or blemish but the stock was busted in half just behind the action. UPS paid for it. He also started buying those inexpensive gun cases at walmart for that are around $10. He shipped using those inside a cardboard box and I think that helped alot too. If you get a anti hunter or anti gun person handling the package they will intentionally break it too. My brother use to work for UPS and he witnessed it. UPS and fedex use the same kinds of sorting machines and many of the same people have worked at BOTH companies! The same anti hunters from UPS also probably worked at Fedex too! OH, by the way. UPS has a more successful shipping rate as well! Sounds to me like the smith does not know how to properly package a shipment
