bowhuntaz1 Report post Posted June 9, 2010 Yesterday was a sucessful disaster... On the way up the mountain, the quad breaks . 2 miles of hiking I was at my 1st trail cam. All the coues had little buttons on them. I did find these 2 sheds from 2 different coues within 200 yards of each other. After an hour of searching I started the walk back to the broke down quad. I also stoped to catch some wild trout. After a 3 mile hike, I get to my 2nd cam.I know the year is wrong, but the month and day are correct, got this big boy a few times. here is my first bear. I have video of her trying to steal my camera, and I also have a video of another sow with twins that are different colors. will post them after I figure out how to post video. youngbuck Report post Posted June 9, 2010 Pictures must be in chronological order(judging by the smiles). 1st pic must have been nearest to the quad breaking down. By the time you were catching fish you were havin some fun! That 2nd shed is really neat and bladed out. Looks like a fun day. I would have let the broken quad ruin my day, glad you didn't. bowhuntaz1 Report post Posted June 10, 2010 What kind of trout? Browns, brook, or rainbows? TJ Not sure what kind of trout. It kinda looked like a rainbow, but it had some ovals going down the sides of its body. You can see some in this pic. The picture does not do the fish justice. Next time I will get better pictures of the fish. Caught it on a wet fly about 2 feet under a float.

Mr. Jonathan Report post Posted June 10, 2010 I believe the ovals are called "parr" markings, and they tend to fade as the fish ages. Typically they occur in wild-born fish, especially rainbow trout. In fact, the markings can make it difficult to tell between immature landlocked salmon and rainbow trout, but I doubt there's any salmon where you're at . I've also seen the markings on small brown and cutthroat trout as well. FANTASTIC antlers. Looks like a great trip.
