FIRST DEER OCT 2009

post-4344-1275947866.jpgpost-4344-1275947874.jpgSo this was my first deer hunt ever. My father in law, brother in law and I all drew a tag .The first day of the hunt it was my brother in law and I lots of hiking and glassin but no deer my father in law was out with his buddy and the came across a nice 4x4 couse but couldnt close the gap. So the next mourning we started back where they saw the 4x4 about an hour after glassing my father in law spotted about 4 deer couldnt really tell size so after about an hour of watching them my brother in law and I decided to put the stock on.So we start making our way down this ridge and up the other side we get to the side of the mountain and stop to glass and see if we could find them.We sit there for what feels like an hour and no deer so i decide to go up about five feet so i could see around the side of the mountain start to glass again ang there he was bedded down under a tree so i signal my brother in law that I have one spotted. So keep in mind that this is my first deer hunt I am trying to get in position for the shot but I am wedged between 2 boulders and cant get relaxed so i get up and put my pack on this boulder and try to lean into the shot well the boulder falls down the mountain it must have been 400lbs+ I thought for sure that the buck was gone, but as luck would have it he was still there didnt move a lick but the wind was blowing 45mph+ so that had to help. I decided to go up the mountain about 50 ft and see if I could get a better shot I found a boulder that is actually attched to the mountain and take my shot I MISSED IT the buck stood up in his bed and stayed there I racked off another round and he dropped right there in his bed I am pumped my deer is down when all of a sudden another buck runs out from behind the tree that mine was beddin under and stands there staring at mine So i tell my brother in law there is another buck right here well he couldnt see it cause he was still about 50ft down the mountain ran up here and and took the shot 2 BUCKS DOWN we were both stoked to get 2 deer at the same spot within 5 mins so when we get to our deer and my father in law met up with us he said he whatched these 2 buck lockin horns while we were hiking up there Mine is the 3x3 and my brother in laws is the 3x2

Congrats. Great first hunt and story. Boulders that are connected to the mountain seem to really work much better than those that are not... :D
