missedagain Report post Posted June 29, 2010 Went scouting this morning and got out there just before light just to see the glow of a grass fire burning in the middle of the area I was going to start. So I made a quick change of plans and scouted a little bit different area. The antelope don't appear to be to thick in this area but I did come up to the edge of a small bluff overlooking a basin with a cattle tank in it. I immediately spot a nice buck coming out of the tank. As I watch this buck walk about 300 yards down this valley I see that something has caught his attention. This buck bolts accross the valley and I see another buck coming at him from the other side. They close the distance in a matter of seconds and just before the get to each other the new comer vears off to one side and the chase is on. This was about 11:00 this morning and it was already well past 90 degrees but that didn't stop this bucks from chasing each at a full out sprint for a little over a mile until I lost sight of them. One thing that I was concerned about is in this area I am not seeing a lot of does so I am concerned those bucks will relocate during season.
mr.smith Report post Posted June 30, 2010 I was up in 10 last weekend and saw a decent buck that was already with 7 does. I don't have a tag. Just passing on what I saw.
Pine Donkey Report post Posted June 30, 2010 I have made a couple trips to unit 1. Goats seam to be scattered and the only good ones I found were nowhere near does.
matthewp45 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 I went out last weekend and I found some goodins. I did see one buck chasin a doe like crazy. It seems pretty early to me. I didn't see any groups of doe's with a buck. But I found a couple good ones in some good areas for stalking with my bow. Hangin out in some pretty thick cedars. Red Rabbit Report post Posted July 9, 2010 When scouting, don't forget to take the varmint rifle for the coyotes you'll see. Make a couple calling stands. Momma and the fawns will thank you.
