Gr8 White Jr Report post Posted May 31, 2010 After finding a canyon last October that was COVERED in bear sign I made a mental note to come back and set some cameras in the spring. I returned at the end of April with my good friend Frank (kaffer62) and after 4 hours of hiking back and forth and up and down the canyon the perfect spot to set the camera was found. Its a spring fed marsh and its absolutely beautiful! I came back after 4 weeks with high hopes to check the camera and found my camera broken, slobbered on and twisted around to the opposite side of the tree. After checking the memorey card in the camera the guilty culprit was revealed...a huge black bear! Exactly what I was hoping for! He had come in 2 days after we set the camera and decided he didnt like having his picture taken. Hahaha! Unfortunately the camera was inoperable after that so the next 3 and half weeks were a waist and no other pictures were taken. I set up another camera with a security/bear box so it could not be destoyed by the bear and left it for another week before I returned to check the memory card. I was excited to see even more promising pictures that this fall could be a great bear season! Its hard to tell but I think there are 3 diffferent bears in the area. There was a gold mine of pictures on the camera, here are a few. Enjoy! -Tracy The next 3 are my favorite of all the pics!

BML Report post Posted June 1, 2010 So does the unit in your area open in August? If not, do you think those bears will still be there when the unit does finally open? Good luck hunting that canyon. Let us know how you do when the time comes.

Coach Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Great job finding a bear honey hole like that!!! I sure want to arrow one big bear somewhere down the line. Have a good spot, but it's not exactly in "friendly territory". That big boy is awesome - keep us posted for sure!

Basser15 Report post Posted June 5, 2010 Looks like you have a good spot. Just hope they don't move out before the season. We had a great spot last year the two weeks before the season opened the bears just up and disappeared. Was a bummer.
mason a Report post Posted June 6, 2010 Did the bear still mess with your camera after you put them in your bear box? A couple of my cameras have been destroyed by bears also ! So yesterday i ordered 3 bear boxes from Eric (Payson outfitters). I just hope those bears ,Being as strong as they are , don't tweek that box just enough to change the angle of the camera. Eric told me to upgrade the size of the lag bolts , which I will do. I'll let you know how they work. Great pictures, And a giant of a bear.
catclaw Report post Posted June 9, 2010 I saw 30 bears during July and August last year while scouting in Central AZ. I only saw sows with cubs while actually hunting! Seems that is how it goes some years. Had a big sow come into a tank while i was in a stand (no cubs) but I don't shoot anything but boars so she was safe. Some years are like that. Found some HUGE tracks this year already. Maybe this bear will stick around long enough to get his mug shot taken! Nice pics
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted June 9, 2010 Nice spot Tracy!! Hope you pull it all together during the season. Is Angie going for a bear too?
Gr8 White Jr Report post Posted June 11, 2010 Looks like you have a good spot. Just hope they don't move out before the season. We had a great spot last year the two weeks before the season opened the bears just up and disappeared. Was a bummer. Im pretty sure they will still be in there when the season opens. The reason I set up in there is because of all the fresh sign I found in there last year during bear season. Only time will tell though. -Tracy
