JACK Report post Posted August 30, 2005 On an average how long dose it take for deer to find and use a salt lick on a regular basis?
az4life Report post Posted August 31, 2005 seems like there was a post on this a while back. If I recall, it takes a few months for deer to get used to returning to the salt lick. They may find it quicker but putting it on a regular routine takes a while.
azhuntnut Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I put out some new salt a while back and set my trail camera on it and had elk hitting the salt within 1 day and two mule deer were hitting it on the second day. Every salt lick I have put out this year has been hit within a day of starting it. I put one out about a month and a half ago and all 27 pictures on my roll were used the first two days. I came back and put in a new role on Saturday morning and then decided to change my camera location the same evening and my camera already had six pictures on it. I also have been using those salt blocks with the berry taste to them(taste ooooooooh so good). David
JACK Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I know that the location has a lot to do with them finding it easily. I have never put any out so I dont know how much or how often they use it. From all the pic it seems like they love it. I might be a little late putting it out but i am going to try it this weekend.
