Border issues?

Recommended Posts

I didn't stop applying because of the danger. I just don't like to hunt in a place that looks like the town dump.

What is Truly Sad is that it would be some of the most scenic country if not for the Garbage!. If I dont get drawn for the units I normally put in for however. It will not stop me from going down there with a leftover tag.

Thanks for your responses, guys.

I just wanted to get the general consensus of the CW bunch.

FYI, it doesn't affect my decisions a bit. I live and raise my family in the borderlands.

Josefine canyon in 34A to be exact.

I also guide and outfit hunters in most of the units on our southern border, especially 34,35 and 36.

And I don't carry an AR around.

I will not, however, be hunting Sonora in the near future. We had a good run down there, but are now devoting more attention to the January archery hunts here in Arizona.

Matt

I hunted 36b a couple years and had a great time seeing a lot of deer down there. Two years ago, after I had filled my tag, my dad and brothers saw seven illegals with their hay bail sized marijuana packs heading north up the same canyon I'd packed my deer out of the previous day. That pretty much ended the southern unit hunting for us. A few years ago I spoke with a Colombian judge who said he couldn't go the mountains to fish for trout because of the danger down there. I told him I couldn't imagine living in a country like that. Unfortunately, now I can. To those of you who continue to hunt down there, be safe.

Why don't we make every illegal that is caught pick up 4 ton of gargage before we send them back and if they are caught again then they pick up double, 8 ton, then 16 ton, ect. :)

I'm new to hunting the southern units to be honest. I'm relatively new to Tucson and therefore relatively naive to the ongoing problems with illegal immigrants. I'll tell you this though; I refuse to let those aliens decide when and where I will hunt. This is my country, not theirs. I'm gonna go where I can find a deer to shoot, and I'll take the precautions necessary to prevent harm to myself. I've spoken with another member of this board who feels the same way. I won't be intimidated in my own country, my homeland. I will not run from this rabble of imposters. I won't change my attitude towards what I love to do. They are the imposters, not me. I encourage the rest of you to do the same. Screw them, let's do what we want. This is our country! Don't let them decide what we will do, but rather let them worry about us. We are in the right, not them. Maybe I'm just young and dumb, but at least consider this before you back down. We have the right to hunt where we dang well please. That's the way I see it anyway.

I agree with you 100%...I think the majority of the illegals whether they are just coming to work or smuggling drugs DON'T want to be caught or seek trouble Usually they scatter...Knock on wood I have never had a problem when I have crossed paths with them...guess there is always that chance...but then again when isn't there a chance something could happen wherever I go?...I am aware but not scared...I am armed and dangerous too and will protect myself whenever or wherever I am...I have given them water before but I also call the BP every time I see illegal activity...Guess in a small way a few weeks out of the year I feel like I can help with the problem.

A buddy and I ended up getting leftover tags in 29 last year. We hunted hard for four days, ran into a mountain lion, missed a few shots on the only buck we saw, and chatted with several Border Patrol agents. There were plenty of other hunters down our canyon, and I have no problem going back this year (unless those Kaibab tags come through). It was a heck of a time. This year we will bring ARs and more people and hopefully we'll bag one of those monster coues.

Me and my grandfather are not changing our picks. We have been hunting there for the last 5 years and my uncle lives in 34a. Though we are changing untis we will still be in the south. haha no one can unload six rounds of 243 out a lever gun then me ha. But we have never seen dope guys during hunting but many during scouting i think they kinda lightin up on there work when theres more chance of getting caught. though we did see three years ago guys climb in a truck with packs and full camo and aks after crossing the border.

I will continue to hunt down South with friends and family as my PLAN B .... and I agree with everyone and what they are saying .... I have the solution for that border wall but most would not like it ... ever see the movie 300 ??? With all the guns in Az we could save the taxpayers a lot of money using the corpses of Illegal's as the Bricks and mortar for a nice sized wall

I used to hunt down there all the time. One year we were camped near Pena Blanca lake when the military got into a shootout with some smugglers. It sounded pretty awesome. Same hunt, we glassed up a patrol in some funky military camies cruising and escorting some civilians. We just backed out and left the area. This was back when we could get 2 Dec tags so it was a while ago.

I will still go down there, but I won't take my family.

My friends have had more bad experieces with Border Patrol than with the UDAs themselves. I never have myself though. I applied for a sheep tag on the border but my deer hunts are closer to home. Too many good units much closer is the main reason I don't go down there.

I could shoot one of those drug runners if I had to but anyone that doesn't think this would start a sh!tshorm is sadly mistaken.
