Wife and kids wanted me to hunt 34A and take them with me but there is no way I am taking them down there. It is a bad thing when a US citizen does not feel safe taking their family somewhere in the United States due to fear of violence from illegal drug traffickers of another country. It is sad that family and friends have fought for other countries rights but our rights and safety are fading back here at home.

Nope, the less people putting the better, more bucks and better chance of drawing.

 

You know, what I notice is that; year after year, people put in for those units and then when they get drawn they come up asking questions if they should go hunting or not. If they are worry about hunting there.....why put in for those units in the first place?? It should be safer now with our soldiers in the border.

Pack your AR's and have multiple 30 rd mags and go hunt some Coues. In all seriousness I dont hunt down there so it doesn't affect me. Stay safe for the hunters that do and good luck.

Nope does not bother me. Im usually in full camo and tucked on the side of a big mountain glassing and I will see them before they see me. If I see they are packing guns I get out of there or just bed down behind the 300 and keep them in my sights till they are no threat.

What many fail to realize is we are talking about birds of a didn't feather in relation to packing AR's, more 30 rd mags, camo out and keep em in your cross hairs till they decide to go elsewhere! Most illegal folks are going to avoid hunters at all costs but its those that are dealing in drugs or the coyotes being paid to get X amount of people across safely that stand to lose so much, and they will not think twice about shooting another human being! That allows them to not hesitate in doing so when for most of us hunters, we first try to identify who it is, are they a threat to us, what are they doing and how many are there before we consider doing anything. All those questions are hesitations and will cost you your life in the wrong situation, so yes it is dangerous for all of us down there but so is crossing the street downtown Phoenix during lunchtime, or riding my Harley anywhere in the valley! We will continue to hunt down south as it is too great a country to not hunt in. The only thing I can honestly say I would be concerned with would be your campsite while you are gone in the field hunting as of course anyone with common sense realizes most hunters are our before sunup and back after dark for the most part. Of course this pertains to all human beings of less then stellar morals so it could happen in 6A as soon as it could in 36B. I'm just saying...

These mtns and valleys, canyons, and the whole state for that matter was mine (ours, as in you and me) before these dopers and smugglers even knew it existed. I personally refuse to give these pendejos any of it. Obviously I have to be careful. I will be free to go hunting/fishing again soon enough and I will park in an open area so I can keep an eye on my truck, let someone know where I will be, and remember that the best place to be when trouble comes is somewhere else. I like my solitude and so my hunting is alone. That means I have to be situationally and tactically aware. Peace and be careful.

I generally don't apply for the "higher risk" units as 1st or 2nd choice. There are some southern units I feel "safer" than others though. I go on atleast one hunt a year in what I think are there worse units. I would not hesitate to pick up a left over tag or help a friend on any hunt in AZ. When hunting in "higher risk" areas I take precautions. I dont haul optics/weapons I won't have on me at all times. I camp where I feel less foot traffic will be during the nights and days. I dont leave much in camp. I go with more people than usual, I ALWAYS make sure to have my radio batteries and cell phone.

You know what I’m not changing my hunting spots/ways for no one.

Ok maybe the wife ok ok the in-laws wait the boss ok my son but that’s it. LOL.

I won’t be changing anything. This is the one thing all year that I get to do for myself you would have to tell me that my wife is coming with me on my hunt to stop me from going down south. Let’s see drug runners or hunting with wife I rather take my chances with the drug runners LOL.

I didn't stop applying because of the danger. I just don't like to hunt in a place that looks like the town dump.
