We caused a ruckus in Zimbabwe

HaHaHaHa.....

We were checking farm fields in the Communal Area of the Dande East on the first morning of hunting in Africa, when my buddy, Ron, spots this farmers shirt…..

We had a long of talk on the truck as we droned along about “President” Mugabe and how his dictator ship had sent the once prosperous “Rhodesia” into the steadily decaying country of Zimbabwe. Also how Mugabe was at one point during his current tenure, one of the 10 wealthiest people in the world! In the conversation/ history lesson Ron decided that he’d like to have that shirt that the Farmer was wearing as a memento of the trip and the country. As we further discussed the idea with Buzz (our PH), he said we would be going back there to look for Ele tracks again the next day, so a trade might be possible…. Now what to trade? I told Ron I had a Grong Orange CW.com t-shirt in my bag that I’d part with for his cause…. He said if I didn’t mind that would be great, since he didn’t have any t-shirts with him. However, as I went digging through my luggage and found a better shirt to trade… when I held it up for Ron, he burst out with laughter and said, “That is Perfect!” This New shirt was of Western politics… and so the was to trade good for evil, clean for dirty, and have a great time doing it!! The next morning we set our plan in motion!! This is how it all went down…

...and one last smile as we drove off... that is his home in the back ground.

Well…. no one else on the Truck had even ever heard of a “pin head”… so some explanation of the O’Reilly Factor and what a “Pin Head” is, was made… some laughs were had, but the “Proper" English personalities of our hosts kept them form have near the fun that we did… and we (Ron and I) had WAY too much fun with this little fiasco!

We went on our way… Ron with his filthy souvenir and both of us with lots of laughs and memories of that exchange. Back in the States we get this email from Buzz’s partner at CM Safaris, Miles… and it says:

That shirt that Gino swopped has caused a huge ruckus with our local politicians which is quite hilarious!!! Buzz had to find another [Mugabe shirt], return it to the owner and say "here is your shirt back, and the client says you can keep his no problem".

I almost laugh till I cried… The Arrogant Americans had done it again!! I am sure that Buzz is not very pleased with us either… for it was his time burned to fix our political blunder. But from our perspective it was just one more part to add to a great memory! HaHa!

All have to say is.... "I'd do it again!"   I hope you all find the humor in this that we did..... ;) :D
