Fall turkey question

Recommended Posts

Do turkey respond to calling during the fall season? I can not remember hearing any gobbling during fall elk hunts. Do you hunt the same as you would in the spring?

Thanks

My experience (though limited... ;) ) is that they do NOT respond as they do in Spring. BUT, they do respond!!!

We've had a little success in the fall if/when we bust-up a group of birds, we will then set-up with a decoy quickly and do some calling. Sometimes it seems like the birds will kind of come around and try to 're-group' after we've busted them up....

Good luck!!!

find a group and if you can't get a shot, run at them screaming to bust them up, then try a calling them in...

We have heard Goobles in the fall but nothing like in the spring more of a shock gobble. Like others have said in the fall your best bet is to split them up and either set up in between when they are talking to each other or call after you bust them up.

Years ago I was delivering a load of lumber to young and saw a huge flock of turkeys( in the winter). I hit the air horn and about 6 toms couldn't take it and let out a gobble at the same time :o it was pretty cool to see and hear.
