CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 28, 2005 Just a reminder that the AZ Deer Association is holding it's annual deer hunting clinic on Sept 8. Duwane Adams will be talking about Coues Deer hunting tactics and Chris Denham will talk about optics. There will also be speakers on field care of meat and some AZGFD projects like the Kaibab mule deer research proposal. The clinic will be at the same place as last year, the Mountain Preserve Reception Center, 1431 E. Dunlap, Phoenix Anyone interested, here is a link to the agenda on the ADA website: Deer Clinic Agenda If you happen to see me there, introduce yourselves. It would be nice to see a lot of CW.com people there. Amanda
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted August 28, 2005 Do you have to be a member of ADA to attend?
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 29, 2005 No, you don't have to be a member to attend. It's free for youth hunters aged 10-17. Otherwise it's $10 at the door or free if you buy a membership there. We always have some great bucks there and some optics and gear you can look at. And CW.com member Stanley will be running a special program for the youth hunters. Great fun!! Amanda
stanley Report post Posted August 30, 2005 I want to stress to everyone that kids are FREE! We will also be raffling off some prizes, including a .22 rifle, all for the kids only, and all FREE for them! We will have the AZ G&F on hand with their shooting simulator game (kids love it.... I might have to have a go myself...), and they will also be giving a little discussion and Q&A for the kids only. Good stuff, especially if you have a young child recently drawn for a hunt! Hope to see some folks there. S. PS: We could also use a couple of volunteers to help out a little bit with the kids stuff that evening. Let me know if you can help. Thanks! coueshunter Report post Posted August 31, 2005 This sounds like a great event that I hope CW people will invite a friend and bring the neighbor kids to. Last year the AZGFD and Stanley really outdid themselves for the kids and the speakers provide real life experiences that anyone can use. The best 10.00 you can spend...............Allen.......... stanley Report post Posted September 9, 2005 So was there any other CW regulars there last night besides Amanda, Allen, and Kevin? As usual, the speakers were great, and the kids had a good time to. We raffled-off some prizes for the kids, including some hats, a couple of BB guns, and a Rugar 10/22. Each kid also got an ADA hunting vest. I LOVE raffling-off that stuff, as the kids really get a kick out of it. I had my two youngest children along with me, and my little girl had an awesome time on the G&F hunting simulator. This morning she told me that she wants to be a quail hunter when she grows-up. I told her that she could be one BEFORE she grows-up if she wants to. Good time for sure.... Sorry Allen, tell Travis that there weren't any winners in his general raffle tickets. S. PS: I always love seeing those coues heads up close & personal when we display the ADA collection of trophies. How about that velvet buck? Beautiful.... CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 9, 2005 I know at least one CW.com person was there in addition to those you listed Stan. He introduced himself to me. Hope he enjoyed the event. Here are some pics:
runningbird Report post Posted September 12, 2005 I'ts a real shame they decide to hold this very nice seminar durring archery deer season every year... Bet they wouldn't hold it durring the reg. hunt? I have made to a few of the seminars in the past and always enjoyed them very much...
stanley Report post Posted September 12, 2005 Good feedback runningbird. A few other folks have made that point. Hopefully when we lay-out next year's calendar, we can schedule in mid-August or so to try to beat the fall hunts. S.
