Recommended Posts

we were checking out an new area last year while helping out some new friends who i met at sportsmans who had never really hunted but wanted to get into it agian so i decsided to help, we were in 36b and came across two trees that had 78 burlap sacks (drug packs) under it and when we informed bp about it they said they had found one the day before with close to 300 lik that. needless to say it took alot of convincing but i got the to continue to hunt and they drew 6a cow tags this year:) but yes its very gross and sad. :(

What can't be posted is the smell that goes with that. There is that much human waste there somewhere also. I once found condoms at a site such as this. Yes condoms! What about the wildlife? The cattle? The land itself? The water? My goodness. Disgusting doesn't quite fit does it?

I didn't know they new how to use condoms

Many have family here who send money so they can make it across and buy stuff to help them make it. They get backpacks and clothing (dark colors), caffiene pills, water bottles, etc. Then they get over to a stash point and have to "get light" to make the jump to another point and to their final destination. Imagine having a family and not being able to support them and walking into a desert for possibly days to find a way to do that. That in itself is a noble thing. But the money made while exploiting them creates ugliness. While I was in college many years ago working security we found an elderly lady who was left at the border fence and told to walk to the lights - that was Phoenix. Obviously the smuggler made a mistake. By 250 miles! He got paid and bailed on her and left her on her own. She was really beat up, tired and starving. Picture Granny from Beverly Hillbillys. Greed makes all things ugly.

In the news today. Most of a Mexican town's LEOs quit after they were ambushed. The report says that entire police forces have quit in recent years.

True Bandido, but we have enough problems of our own without taking on extra ones. I realize why they want to come here, as screwed up as we are where they are from is even worse.

UDA's usually wear a couple sets of clothes, then when they get close to the pickup spot they shed the outer layer so the weeks worth of dirt and grime doesn't give them away.

My daughter works in the ER of a border hospital, she sees UDA's every week with broken legs/ankles from jumping the fence, heat casualties from walking and major medical issues - guess who foots the costs. Weekly there are people flown to Tucson to the trauma center - guess who foots the costs. She works with people that live out of town, they are afraid to go grocery shopping because their houses get broken into and trashed, they don't step outside without a gun strapped to them. There are a lot of problems along the border that we don't hear about.

Yeah I think that's what I've been saying all along. I've been in the ER and seen that also. They get hurt, BP leaves them at the ER, and they move on to a trauma center and get fixed up only to disappear into the community leaving a huge bill for us to pay. Illegal Immigration takes away more than it gives. To the citizens of the US anyway.

Sorry to jump in so late on this post. I am one of 3 of the founders of hunters who care.Lance came up with the idea, so Gabe and myself joined Lance to create the group.Gabe is with G&F, I am with the Az Chapter of SCI.We have been doing these clean up in the 36 AB& C units for 7 years.

The next clean up should be in December, then again in March. The AZ Chapter buys all the food for lunch and drinks, and we give a raffle ticket for every bag of trash brought back to camp. The prizes are from local business who have donated something and the grand prize is a rifle donated by AZ Chapter of SCI.

I can go on all day with stories and pictures, but I hate to type.If you want more info, call me at 520-490-8367 and I will be glad to fill you in on what we do and how you can help out.

Thanks and have a safe weekend,

Bobby

If no one minds, I'm going to repost these photos over on my site. If anyone would like to send me more, or personal anecdotes about the trash, I can be reached at muskrat89 AT gmail.com

It's funny you don't hear the Sierra Club or CBD wailing about this...

There are 3 drop off points that i have came across in unit 27. They have about 15 to 20 back packs and clothes thrown around. But nothing like that. Yet.......

I helped do a clean up some years ago in a location about a mile past the turnoff to Lake Pleasant. It was unbelievable. You wouldn't think there would be a dropoff so close to phx. We filled a 40 yard dumpster and started working on another. David
