1uglydude Report post Posted December 10, 2014 I will post a photo later of the 175 SMK out of a .300RUM that my daughter took her elk with this year. Just under the offside skin, about halfway through it and almost out. This was the first ever recovered bullet I have found. Have you had a chance to weigh it yet to see how much it shed? lancetkenyon Report post Posted December 10, 2014 Weighed.....enough. I hate to say this, but it got dropped in the field, and we searched for about 15 minutes for it and never found it. Knowing how much a new one weighs, and what was left, I would think about 50%+/- weight retention after a good 20-24" of penetration, with shattering two ribs and a bone in the spine. That elk never even twitched. Just rolled over and instantly dead. I have never seen a quicker kill on big game. I have shot game with SMKs (numerous), Berger Hunting VLDs (they work pretty quick too, like 2 seconds and 10'), Barnes TSX (deer stood for about 5 seconds like nothing and then dropped without a twitch, another elk went all of 5'), SGKs (deer ran 40 yards), Swift Scirocco (elk never took a step but stood for a good minute with 2 in the boiler room), Ballistic Tips (not impressed with any from .257 to .308, except the Varmint BTs disintegrate small game into a pink mist). I really hope the ELD-m will react the same The only difference between the amax and ELDM is the tip materials are slightly different. They should react the same.
MMACFIVE Report post Posted November 10, 2017 I've been wanting to do this for some time now. Remember Nosler Partition are designed to work between 1800 fps and unlimited and retain between 60 & 70% of their weight. Some were DRT. Some Traveled a ways. The WT went almost 100yds (the furthest).

duckhunter175 Report post Posted February 4, 2018 .50 cal 350gr TC Maxi-Hunter-- Oklahoma whitetail buck, 78 yard shot, hit just behind near shoulder, broke one rib, broke offside shoulder, found under the skin. Shot from a home made CVA Deer Hunter percussion kit gun. All my reloading kit is packed but I will get a weight on it. You can see where the shoulder bone sheared off some of the lead (2nd photo).
