Do Javies shed in the spring?

Recommended Posts

This one came through a couple of times. I got pics of some of his friends and they don't have the same bald spots. Almost looks like mange but I don't thing pigs can get it. Any ideas?

Yeah, I've seen that bald spot on them while field dressing them, but this one has bald spots on the side and up around the neck.

LOL!! That's the spirit Bill! You are learning the lingo! LOL!

I don't think that bald spot is much to worry about. I have seen them fairly bald around that part of the body before. Maybe it's a female and the males like her a LOT.....:)

But maybe there is some javelina biologist who would know better....

It's almost like a molt. Someone from G&F told us this a long time ago. They will have bare spots from time to time. Also will see them with flaky skin sometimes too.
