AZ RANGER Report post Posted August 19, 2005 in the last couple of days i went to get two of my cameras I had set up . no digital so I cant post pics. but anyway the first cam took first picture of a big a$$ bear with his face right in the camera and the next 20 picture was of my camera ponited at the ground one of the pictures had hm walking away. so no dear in this roll. the other camera took a good picture of a bobcat a skunk, and three pictures of a bear on the third pic he was ripping my camera off the tree thus no more pics. I have never had bears mess with my cameras before. does anyone else have this problem? I also found a fresh lion kill nearby. it was a coupe days old and only had the belly opened and very little meat was missing. kinda gave me the heebee jeebees like I was being watched. BASS Report post Posted August 19, 2005 That's too bad about your cameras. There is one way to get your payback......
bcoover Report post Posted August 19, 2005 Can you scan those pictures. I would really like to see them. One more thing if you have all those bears and lions around your hunting spot, how many deer could there be. Remember lions kill a deer a week if they are lucky. Over the summer that lion could of killed 12 deer. That has to hurt your chance of seeing them. I don't know I just want to see those pic.
BASS Report post Posted August 19, 2005 Good point bcoover. But I would rather shoot a lion instead of a coues any day. I too would love to see the photos. Does anyone you know (work?) have a scanner?
25-06 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 AZ RANGER, You should have a lion tag and sit over it's kill for the next couple days, cuz most likely it was watchen you and will be back to finish eatin it's deer...They like to eat the innards first and then return daily for a couple days after to finnish it
az4life Report post Posted August 19, 2005 Sitting over that kill is a great idea. Definitely was not too far from it and you might get lucky if you take a chance! Bears are attracted to the film smell! Very sendistive noses and thye often will demolish the cannister you have the camera in to get to it. I would say that is another great reason digital is the new wave! Can't wait to see the pics, such as they are.
russd Report post Posted August 19, 2005 bears definately go after the 35film cams. it smeels sweet to them. also not all lions kill a deer a week. we had one up north here, a female, she killed more small game than anything. especially coyotes! one male lion, now dead did kill a large animal about once every 10 days. that was last year. not all lions are bad guys. AZ RANGER Report post Posted August 19, 2005 I have glassed a lot of deer in the area recently so i know ther is a good population in there. I had the camera at a spring And I am pretty sure deer went in there after the cam was damaged there was alot of fresh sign. but I also think they are watering at other places as rain has filled every nook and cranny latley. As for the lion I would love to sit and wait him out but things have hectic latley I am luckly to get out once a week. question do bears ever kill large deer like a lion would? I a copy machine at work that says it has a scanner feature but I have no idea how to use it or how I would post the pictures if I did scan them. any advice? thanks SA
BASS Report post Posted August 20, 2005 If you can get them saved somehow, you can e-mail them to me, and I can put them on the net for you. Or... you can set up an account on photobucket.
bowhuntinmaniac Report post Posted August 20, 2005 Yes bears will kill deer and elk. Also, as a slight deterance of the bears try mounting yer cam in a tree about 12-15 feet up and point it where you want it to take the pics. It has worked for me and also helps a little if someone wants to steal it. Just dont leave the tree steps for easy access.
