Wowie Zowie!! I think my last post was misunderstood. Not the first time.

I am not defending illegals.

I am defending this great countries sovereignty and diversity.

When we put race above citizenship we have trouble.

Are the folks that are protesting this new bill concerned about the laws of this country or are they concerned about people of their own color/race being able to come and go as they please?

Upholding the laws of this nation is not racism.

Breaking the laws of this nation for the benifit of people of your own race is.

Mike

Kind of interesting how far we have come in some areas and yet taking steps back.

We aren't the first country to fight over borders, I think history will tell us that tribes of Indians fought over territories. They didn't ask for documentation, they just took care of business.

If we want to dissolve the US of A and open up the borders then that is something as a nation we need to decide which I believe our current head chief, no pun intended, would probably vote for.

The race issue is just a tool used to create sympathy, we already have laws stating the need to have domumentation of citizenship.

Funny story, that blinking red light I ran down at Rocky Point a couple of years ago......just like the five trucks I was behind that had 25 laborers riding in the back of the truck..........and I got pulled over for running a blinking red light......now that is profiling.......AZ plates, tourist.

Did I have to show a drivers license............yup

Did I have to pay a fine..............yup

Duh, I broke the law!!!!!! Don't matter that the 5 trucks in front of me broke the same law I just broke..........

Rembrandt, I read between the lines, I knew all along you were putting citizenship before race and I agree with ya.

first off, "mexican" ain't a race, it's a nationality. i've seen irish and polish "illegal aliens". the polish dude was a real prize. name was juan potaznik. but they were mexicans because they were born there. mexico is as diverse as we are. i also don't understand all the religious tones applied here. this ain't about religion, it's about law. man's law. too bad we need laws, but we do. but they are worthless without enforcement. hopefully this bill will force cops to enforce the law. or allow em too, whatever the case is. i see now that the new mex gov wants jane to veto the 1070. i bet so. this is gonna turn new mex into a dang smugglers funnel. and texas. california already is and they aren't about to do anything that might be politically incorrect. might be correct, but correct is wrong in california. i see where former mesa police chief gascon is against it. he left mesa for san francisco. a declared sanctuary city. and he tried to make mesa one the entire he was there too. so no surpise there. and some police chief from connecticut is agianst it too. connecticut? now that's a stretch. jane best worry about Az. and if she wants to have a prayer of being elected (she wasn't elected in the first place) she best sign it. and the 70% of the Az. population that wants it best support it and not back up an inch. we have a real problem here. and a big part of the problem is that since a guy named jack williams was governor (1975) we haven't had a governor get elected, spend their entire time in office and either choose to not to run or not get re-elected. 35 years o' this crap. a guy name raul castro got elected in 75, after almost 2 years he was offered an ambassadorship somewhere and took it. this made a guy name wes bolin, the secretary of state, the gov. he died shortly after and that's how we got bruce babbit. he was gov for awhile and decided to run for president and on his way out the door signed, illegally, the first mlk holiday. the next election ev mecham won in a 3 way race. he got impeached and booted from office and that is how we got behive head rose mofford. she finally retired just before she petrified and fyfe symington won the election. then he got busted doing something illegal and was removed and we got propane jane hull. after her we got the lumberjack mr napalitano, a clinton/reno carpet bagger appointee to the fed court that stayed around. then he pulled the big runner and is now our homeland insecurity cheif and on the short list for the buckwheat and supreme court and that gave us the new jane. so for 35 years we've had one truck load o' crap after another that wasn't in it to do anything but improve their own lot. they've proved it by the crap they've pull. we need a governor that will get elected and stick around until the job is done and not be always looking for a better job. i guess if a guy wants to be gov of Az they need to run for sec of state. that seems to be main line to the office. from what i've seen so far, this buz guy looks the best to me. goddard is plum spooky. he'll give this state away to mexico. jane ain't the answer. especially if she won't sign this bill. she oughta do it while there are fire works goin' off behind her. i don't get any kinda warm feeling from dean martin or any of the other guys that have declared either. but jane best sign this and if she vetos it she needs to leave the state. Lark,

You hit the nail on the head!

Race, natitonality and or religion are not part of this.

The sympathizers and supporters of illegal immigration use it as a tool to cause hate and discontent and controversy.

What you said about our governorship is absolutely right.

We need a solid, and stand up governor instead of all the riff raff we have had in the past. Unfortunately in todays goverment, it is hard to find someone who is a stand up person, as usually if you don't go along with the political scheme, you will get blackballed and your career in politics will be short lived.

Like you said. We have a problem, and it will take people in government that actually have a pair of brass Juevos to get the job done.

Maybe we should talk to Sheriff Joe about running for Governor. ;)

Please don't shoot the messenger! There are sections of 1070 that will not stand up to Constitutional muster.

How do I know this? The section about stopping and picking people up has the same problems that an ordinance the Town Of Cave Creek passed. Admittedly, we were low hanging fruit for the ACLU and Maldef to bring suit against. We didn't even go to the next legal level to fight, they had us. Cave Creek worked with a Constitutional Lawyer, Sheriff Joe, and the County Attorney's Office to draft their ordinance. Cost us a lot of money going in to just fail. This section will not stand.

As to the rest of it there are so many points for the ACLU to pick apart it is just going to cost the taxpayers a fortune in legal costs. Don't get me wrong, I do not support an open border, nor do I believe that people who entered this Country illegally have a right to stay. Unfortunately the Constitution and it's current interpretations

do not for the most part support my beliefs on this issue. If you really want to get mad, research anchor babies.

Google the term "subject to the jurisdiction thereof". If that doesn't make you mad, then nothing will.

Will Governor Brewer sign this? Probably, she has no choice if she wishes to be a viable Candidate for Governor. Whether she should or not is another question.

In 1996 I spoke with Jan Brewer and thanked her for the Concealed Carry Permit process that had been passed while she was Majority Whip in the Senate. She looked at me and said, "I didn't give you anything you didn't already have". I was impressed by that statement as she was instumental in giving that right back to us.

She's a stand up person in an awful spot.

No worries. We don't shoot messenger's around here...............or do we?

Sometimes I stand a little tall on my soapbox, but I am sooooooooooooo... fed up with the b.s politics in this country.

A straight forward law and the enforcement of it would be a good start, but then it gets challenged by the likes of the ACLU, and possibly overturned.

Swell!

I find it really mind boggling that our governement and society can take such a simple things and complicate the h#ll out of them.!

After returning from the Santa Teresa mountains with a friend new to coues hunting, were we did some scouting (good), I went on to this forum to search for that unit. When I read about the murder of Mr. Krentz, I could "hear" the silence on this forum.

It seemed like we'all held our breath, in an internet-forum-manner. I told my left-of-center friends that his death will be a turning point, but "what the heck, what is another murder", was their attitude. I said "something is different...this will count". I seem to be spot on.

This bill, the gun law, the opposition to the regressive tax, Prop 100, are backed, IMO, partially by this death.

AZ is anywhere from $750 million to $1.3 billion in the hole, every year, from handling this "social issue." Think of lost music teachers, cops, aid to seniors, (a few deer guzzlers) and the sense of urgency felt over this bill is fiscally sound.

ebb, i kinda think this bill will stand. there were a buncha folks betting the employee sanctions law wouldn't hold up, but it did. o' course it was the same bunch that are saying the same thing about this bill. and the aclu ain't a law making body or a court. just a buncha liberal @$$holes that complain about everything. what floyd said has a lot of merit. when Rob Krentz died it pulled a lot of fence sitters into the fight. and it shut up a lotta the more vocal pro-illegal drum bangers because they knew it changed things too. i predict more bad stuff on the border. a lot more. the mexican outlaws are used to everyone just getting out of their way. i'm thinking there are gonna be a lot more confrontations. these mexican gangsters have been able to buy any kinda hit they want in mexico for years. when they get shut down at the border they're gonna send their killers north. i kinda think what happened to Rob Krents might have been something of that sort. anyway, if this bill becomes law it's gonna make it real difficult for law breakers from the south to live here. can you imagine what joe will do with it? and that lumberjack napalitano and obama can't do anything about it. they can cover the border and even keep the state law away from it but they can't keep Az cops from enforcing Az law in Az. and it will cause new mex and texas to do something similar because all the crap leaking into this state will head for them in a crap tidal wave. whatever, there have been some good comments here. thoughtfull stuff. our state needs thoughtfull action. we've had 35 years of revolving door governors, many of whom have been fighting to stay in the job and outta prison and to get elected, the entire time they were in office and too little attention has been paid to some real critical problems. this is one of them. and kyl and mcain haven't been much of a help. well, until lately, whey they finally realized that the vast majority of this state hated this crap and wasn't gonna re-elect em. stay on top of the issues. look real close to who and what you're voting for. see what kinda baggage folks bring with them to office. used to be we had some guys representing us in dc that actually cared about Az. all we have now is guys that care about getting re-elected. hope jane grows some and signs this. we need it and even more. pay attention fellers. this is gonna get intersting. remember si se pueda? well, we matter too. and we're legal voters. Lark.

The answer to our Border Issues is FRIGGIN DEER WITH LASERS and sophisticated tracking for IA's ... :P Now on a serious note I have many Hispanic friends that have just as much passion against the issues with IA's as any other and none feel it is a big deal to have to prove your citizenship for any reason .... The ones that seem to have issues are the people who have utilized the process of getting relatives here over the past years (know a couple of them too) .... We as a people have suffered way more inconveniences in the last decades for upholding laws ..... and some guy asking for your DL or state ID or papers to prove you are not breaking the law and here as an illegal is no big deal .... They need to be tougher on everything including the organizations that enable the activity itself ... The Samaritans and others putting out food and water stashes should be stopped ..... I would not doubt that several of these groups are funded by the drug and coyote trades and just set up as non profit humanitarian outfits to distract who they are really helping ....

Whether you think this bill is "constitutional or not" we all need to get up of the couch and get involved politically. Contact your representative and any others who need to hear what you have to say.

Today is probably the last day to let Gov. Brewer know how you feel on this. If you haven't called her, or you know someone else how hasn't, remind them.

My grandparents came to this country as illegal immigrants. My father and his family were itinerant farm workers, whom worked from farm to farm often times living in terrible conditions. They worked hard to learn the language an eventually became citizens. My father ( a farm worker) became a successful business man and was able to provide for our family. Unless your native to America, you are all immigrants. We should not be targeted for the color of our skin, how we dress, etc. I feel fortunate to be a grandson of immigrants and proud to be an American. I believe in the Constitution and what it stands for. SB1070 IS unconstitutional and will be proven so. If you feel so strongly about "illegal" immigrants, you should not be eating the food which they pick for your table, the homes you live in that they helped to build. I know the supporters of this bill don't want to believe that the undocumented contribute to the economy of Arizona. Just wait until they all leave!!!! To the good people of Arizona, do yourselves a favor and watch the documentary "9500 Liberty".

Oh and just an FYI. I am white......
