Indian Ruins

Recommended Posts

Here are some from just behind where I live, I went out to shoot a rifle and ended up hiking a couple of hills. I never did shoot.

I haven't seen one like this before, looks like a warrior to me

these pics are from unit 23. It is very interesting to me how the natives would inhabit some of these sites. very cool topic!post-5307-0-94712700-1318881461_thumb.jpgpost-5307-0-07835300-1318881490_thumb.jpgpost-5307-0-34306000-1318881514_thumb.jpg

In the Sierra Ancha's, up the Cheery Creek drainage - Devil's Chasm, Cold Springs Canyon, Pueblo Canyon, west side of Cherry creek. Haven't seen them from the top, have walked up from the bottom, good hike, take your camera.

Here is a big ruin I found with my son on top of a bluff. Had to go under the tree on the right to find a way to climb up. Hiking to the pueblo ruins is on my bucket list.

I can't imagine that being a very good place to make a permanent settlement. It seems so exposed to the elements. I wonder if it was used as a last resort defensible position. I way be completely wrong, too!

I’m with you on that, it does appear to be a defense position but there is quite a few rooms up there. I can’t imagine hauling water up to it either. Has to be at least ¼ mile to the bottom where water would have been and it’s some really steep stuff.
