Benbrown Report post Posted April 15, 2010 I heard about it yesterday at a meeting with federal and state agency representatives in southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico. What I heard agreed with the elements in the story you posted. As a result, for the next three weeks, USFS employees are banned from field work in those units of the Coronado NF that are adjacent to the border. In those units away from the border with a history of illegal/smuggling activity, they must work in pairs or be accompanied by an LEO. NRCS has issued a similar directive to their employees in counties along the border with Mexico. The Border Patrol representatives from Douglas and Lordsburg indicated that they are undertaking changes in how their agents are disposed with the aim of sealing the border at the border with agents on the ground. We'll see how that plays out...

Kilimanjaro Report post Posted April 15, 2010 Yep..that TB area (east and west of there especially) along the border is lawless. As a matter of coincidence, I was the 2nd man there at the ranch the day that black helo landed in the ranch's front lawn mentioned in the article. Pucker factor that day was a bit high. hunterdude Report post Posted April 15, 2010 It won't be long before more people ( US citizens ) are injured by the illegales. It's going to worse before it gets better!
azphil Report post Posted April 15, 2010 I just watched a National Geographic program showing how the Tohono O'Odham tribe tracks and captures the drug runners that enter thru that part of the state. They have what they call the "12 wolves" (ice officers) that specialize in locating and tracking the smugglers- mostly on foot. 12 is not nearly enough to control that large an area. They do some on quads but the smugglers hear them from way off and just hole up. Interesting and hard work - most of the smugglers lose their cargo but 1 in 3 smugglers get away. It is going to get worse down there if the border isn't secured!

Of course, I think those guys work mostly at night, and I havent been on nights in a while...
Ringer Report post Posted April 15, 2010 Too bad he didn't kill a couple of them. It is going to take a few of their bodies to make a point to our government. It ticks me off that our government would try to keep a military incursion into our country a secret for political reasons.
Guest Bandido Report post Posted April 15, 2010 Don't worry man. All we have to do is deal with the demand for drugs and the problem will go away. Right?

WadeNAZ Report post Posted April 16, 2010 It won't be long before more people ( US citizens ) are injured by the illegales. It's going to worse before it gets better! Given the recent murder of the rancher and now this on top of all the other incidents, it wont belong before Illegals are injured by US citizens. I told friends and family recently that things are reaching a boiling point down there and the top is going to fly off soon.
