CouesWhitetail Report post Posted April 14, 2010 My husband and I found this hawk north of Globe back in February and it was roosting with a bird that was apparently its mate. I hoped we would find the nest this spring and that's exactly what happened last night. I wonder if any of its babies will be white? Like the white bighorn sheep I posted recently, this hawk isn't a true albino but a leucistic form that lacks pigment in some areas of its body. here are some digiscoped pics from Feb (didn't take any last night). tjhunt2 Report post Posted April 14, 2010 Amanda, I have lots of them in my neighborhood. They are called pigeons. You know I'm just kidding, you seem to have the touch when it comes to finding rare things such as this beautiful redtail hawk. Thanks for sharing. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted April 14, 2010 Whats with you and all the "white colored" animals? hahaha!! Never seen anything like that, truly amazing. Thanks for all the pictures. -Jeremy- I don't know. Funny thing is I found the white bighorn sheep two days after I found the white redtail. So it was a good week for finding white critters! For those that missed the bighorns, here is the link to that post: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...showtopic=18168

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted April 14, 2010 Sure it did not cross-breed with a Ptarmigan? Neat finds for you, both sheep and hawk. When I first saw it, with that front view, I thought wow, that thing looks like a Gyrfalcon! But after some better looks and seeing its mate, we realized it was a RTHA. ultra300mag Report post Posted April 15, 2010 What next a white buffalo? That is very cool. I am about as old as dirt and I never seem to find anything like that. Maybe I should invite you on my Desert Sheep hunt this year and you can find me a nice big white ram. Way to go.

Amanda I beat ya to that one, Amanda!! :P Awesome RT.. one of a kind for sure.. glad you had your camera handy! And yes, those snowy owls are gorgeous too. I saw one in Wisconsin a couple years ago. Amanda
Kilimanjaro Report post Posted April 15, 2010 I was actually deer hunting in Nov. in the Tx hill country on a property with THOUSANDS of turkeys in it (hence the rifle in the pic).. I was sitting on top of a windmill platform watching down several senderos when a string of turkeys came out.. This one kinda stuck out from the rest of them! In TX, you can take birds in the fall as well as the spring, so I sent one downrange and got lucky. I've actually seen a few of these color phased turkeys in that area and 2 others on that same ranch.
