GOT A TAG? USE IT!!!

Recommended Posts

I was lucky enough to get drawn for the late hunt in unit 33, and I am very aware of how hard it is to get drawn for these tags, let alone any tag. I know of several locals that did not get drawn at all this year, and it really chaps my hide when I hear that some tag holders choose not to use their tags. If you dont plan to make the effort to hunt the game you drew for, then leave your application out of the box!

Seems fummy to that some would not use it!

As far as I am concerned there is no option when you have your tag in hand........GOOOOO

If you think you can't WHERE ARE YOUR PRIORITIES!!!!!

I don't know any of those people. We religiously check as soon as we can to see if we got drawn and if we get drawn count the days till the season starts.

Wwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

This place is starting to sound like MM.com.

I just found out that I drew a javelina tag for unit 31 also. But my brand spankin' new $45,000 2004 Ford turbodiesel pickup with ALL THE WHISTLES AND BELLS is scheduled to be delivered on the opener! Darn! Also, three days later I have to drive it to Utah to bid on a auction muley tag that will probably go for $5,000 or $6,000!

Looks like I may have to waste another tag and not make it to Arizona at all this season. Oh well.

Chris I am happy for you. It sounds like you either have done a very good job earning your financial situation. Or was it given to you? I think all the money you spend on toys and hunting are good for the economy and help Arizona wildlife. However, I wish you would spend sometime hungry. Then maybe you could understand how some other people feel about getting drawn and then not using a tag.

I haven't wasted a tag yet. In fact, when I was young and stupider than I am now, I fell out of a tree over a bear bait, slammed 7 vertibre, and STILL went and banged an antelope against the doctors orders and the wishes of my family. Sounds like I'm braggin don't it? - I am!

But you know what? I'm starting to be sorry that I started this "don't waste your tag" thing. Chris is right, we don't want to start bickering like some people do in other forums.

This forum is better than that. There is not as much action here, but the information is a hundred times better.

The point was made.

Lets talk about deer huntin.

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Peckl1,

You got through to me man. I am crushed and broken. I now see the light. I am going to change my ways.

The thought of me wasting one mediocre Coues deer buck is what did it. Holy cow, a mediocre Coues deer buck (which I was sure to get on my 32 tag) weighs about 90 lbs, right? That would yield about 40 lbs of edible meat, particularly if I cut the riblets out. That is certainly enough to feed a family of six poor Arizonan's for at least a year, right? As a result of my recent introspection, I am seriously disenchanted with myself for missing this due to my own selfishness.

Tomorrow morning, I am going to go to my accountant and cash in all my millions. I will immediately donate all of my worth to the needy, low-income citizens of Safford, Arizona. Whoops, I better give half to the Klondyke citizens, all 3 of them.

"mediocre cues deer buck" ??????? What??????

I love hunting,I enjoy doing it,if I die hunting I will die very happy doing what I like the most. It really hurt when someone calls a deer or any other game a "mediocre" animal,

In that case what is a rabit? quail or a dove? I guess you dont hunt small game rigth CHD? You dont take your family fishing either, what for?what is a 10 lbs bass for you? but is not about the catching or the harvesting is about enjoy the precious gifts that God give you (family, nature etc etc). If you get your Utah mule deer and I get a bull elk, what is your mule deer next to my elk?

The point I'm trying to make is enjoy all the blessings you have (your truck your $$$ etc, etc.) just dont hurt other people feelings, not every body is bless like you are or not everybody sees hunting from your same point of view.

Please forgive if I'm  and I apologize if I'm hurting somebodies feelings,I better turn off my computer.

Ernesto C.

Thank you Lord because you make healty and because you let me hunt, please bless my friends from Coues whitetail with healt and prosperity too.Thank you.

CHD, Maybe you need to stand back and really think about what hunting and the outdoors means to you. Is it something to spend your money on and if you go you go. Or is it all about the kill not really the hunt. Enjoy this wonderful sport and don't take it forgranted. Some of us can't afford the big money hunts that you have been blessed with. So the these mediocre deer really mean something to us. GOD BLESS

Okay gentlemen. Calm down and relax a little bit. Holy cow.

Ernesto & Bowhntr - By the term 'mediocre' I meant SIZE OF THE ANTLERS, not status in the world of living creatures. There are little bucks, big bucks, and mediocre (medium sized) bucks of all deer species. My Coues deer hunting ability is mediocre at best, so a mediocre buck is probably what I would have ended up with. As far as my opinion of these magnificent animals, I HAVE ALREADY MADE THAT VERY CLEAR!!! Refer to my first post on this forum as well as another under the topic titled "Interesting Coues Stories" for my true beliefs about these incredible animals.

My message under the topic "Tagged One" was the truth. I am really into QUALITY big game hunting and spend waaaaaay too much money on tags and gear. I really feel good about the things I support financially though, particularly wildlife conservation.

All of my messages under this topic are NOT TRUE. I was being VERY sarcastic in my joking. Why? Some of you were trying sooooooo hard to make me a bad guy, so I thought I would give you one! I thought it was funny as heck. No I don't have a new truck ordered (I can't afford one since I spend all my money on big game tags!). My present truck is 4+ years old and will be with me a while. No I don't have millions, I am a working stiff the same as the rest of you guys. It was only 1.5 years ago that I could afford this computer. I make a decent salary, but not a six-figure one. I have a low overhead because I have no wife and no kids. Therefore I have more to spend on QUALITY TROPHY HUNTS than most. This is important to me now because chronic health problems may prevent me from hunting in future years.

In 1991, I harvested a nice muley in western Wyoming that took me 2 days to pack out (on my back) due to the brutally steep mountains. I ended up having to have knee surgery after that. Know where the meat went? I donated it to the Casper, Wyoming rescue mission. I donated many animals to the rescue mission while living there. I harvested a great bull elk this September in Utah on a very expensive tag. I gave the meat to a recently divorced single mom with 3 kids.

I ended up with another tag with a time frame that conflicted with the 32 November season this year. I rated the hunts equal challenge, equally enjoyable, with the chance of a trophy equal for both. The 32 hunt required more time due to a much longer drive, and the 32 hunt had many more hunters. These things were the basis of my decision.

And yes, I do have a 31 javelina tag, and I will certainly be there opening morning searching for one of the neat critters and supporting the Safford economy!

Lets get back to deer talk!

CHD,

If this is the way you really feel thats great. You did cycle me and from the other posts a few other people. This started in your post in tagged one. You expressed concerns about 35 and 36 for next year. I responded in that topic about having hunted 36a a lot. If you decide to put in for that unit next year and get drawn let me know. If you are going to hunt alone you are welcome to camp with my brother and I. I know the area pretty well and don't mind sharing the knowledge.

CHD,I never try "sooo hard" to make you a bad guy I do not judge you. I did no like the opinion (not you) that you had about this majestick animal of the wild and please forgive me but I still disagree with your opinion (not you) of "mediocre animal" maybe some day you will have kids and when you take your 10 or 11 year old kid to his or her first deer hunt and after days of waiting, nigths of dreaming with shooting a deer finally the 2nd or 3rd day of the hunt, after hard work they shoot one "medium size" deer, ask if for them that's a "mediocre animal". Remember there is also "meat hunters" we must respect their opinions too. If you dont like "medium size" deer well dooont shoot he will be biger next year.

Now since you like jokes let me tell you one:I was thinking, why CHD talks like that? is because he has $$$$ is because he's rich??? In that case Lord I thank you because you did not make rich ($$$$) but I do thank you because you make me handsome

Thank you and God Bless you.

Ernesto C.
