At which shooting range did you find these problems?
Harleyfx69 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 not a 'set" shooting range, but an area of forest that is commonly used for shooting, good backdrops and what not, out the i40 towards williams
Coach Report post Posted April 3, 2010 I'm really glad to see these roads still closed. I know it's an inconvenience for some, but let's face it. The ground up here is totally saturated. It simply can't support heavy travel yet. We'll all be out chasing turkeys or looking for sheds soon, but if the roads get rutted up it will make it that much harder for all of us to access the land. Let's be patient. The forest service is really looking at the big picture by trying to maintain the access to some of the most sought-after resources in our state. If those roads get rutted badly, it's just that much harder to bring the kids up for a fall cow hunt.
AZMEATHUNTER Report post Posted April 4, 2010 Very good they are still closed.I have been walking into some areas and wow are they muddy. I have been taking pictures of all the damage the guys on quads looking for sheds are doing!! the east side of unit 9 is CLOSED!!!! I have cut so many quad tracks its not even funny.THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED HARRASSMENT OF WILDLIFE as I read it in the regs.If I see anyone in there I love to video people breaking the law.It makes me so mad I could scream.I have called the forest service and have told them exactly where people are coming in from they said they are out writing tickets.I walked in 12 miles last week and guess what..."chimp" tracks everywhere!!I live in the north country and its way,way to muddy for anyone to be on the roads for a few more weeks AZMEAT

I was up there last Sunday. My neighbor and I headed out on the west side of 64 and found nothing but quad tracks zig zaging through the forest. We then went to the eastside and although not as bad found the same thing. Like you I would love to run into one of these guys.
Harleyfx69 Report post Posted April 5, 2010 im kind of disapointed they have basically done a blanket closure, as several areas roads are okay to use .. but i also agree that many are still too wet to go on, and once again, some bad apples give the rest of the hunting / offroading community a bad name ..
