Bog Pod shooting sticks.....switcheroo or other head?

Recommended Posts

I carry bog pod shooting stick with me all the time. My only other tripod is a big Manfrotto 755 series for my video camera. I want sticks I can shoot off of, dslr camera, use a nikon50mmED spotter with, and perhaps even use my Leica Geovid 10-42.

Would I be bettter off putting the bog pod switcheroo system on my bog pod sticks?

Putting small ball head/quick release on the bog pod sticks?

Or just get a new tripod? I borrowed an Outdoorsmans once and it was great but I don't know that they are the best to shoot off of?

I am not totally sure how you set up/hunt etc. but here is what i am doing, maybe it will give you an idea. I use a Velbon efl3 tripod to glass from with my 15's and carry an extra slik sprint pro tripod with a rubber v on the tripod head to shoot from. It really helps shooting from the tripod on steep hills where you cant lay your pack down due to the extreme slope............Allen......

I just leave "the claw" attached to my rifle and when it's time to shoot, I pull off the optics and slide the claw in. Takes about 10 seconds and is comparable to a bipod in steadiness. (only with the bogen 701HDV head)

I've not had an opportunity to use it on deer, but a few coyotes have bit the dust out to 400.

Hope this helps.

Schmitty,

That is where I am at right now. I have the Claw epoxied to an extra mounting plate for the 701HDV, and leave it clamped to the rifle. I have found the Claw to be steadier when sitting than Steady-Stix, Pole-cat tripods, and Harris bipods.

FlyingBrass,

You might look into a carbon fiber tripod. Some like the Adorama Flashpoint and Velbon ElCarmagne do not cost a leg.

I actually have a product coming out soon that will allow you to do everything. I am not able to give you an exact release date at this time. I have been working on it for quite some time trying to fine tune everything and make it lightweight for the guys that pack there gear. You will also be able to use it in conjunction with "the claw". I have one other product that will be for AR's that will be out before this other due to the fact it has less manufacturing costs. I will post a video when it is finished. It will be worth the wait.
