This is the the bill that will make concealed carry legal without class or instruction as I understand it. If any one has any more insight on the matter please fill us in.

I am a CCW permit holder and I am against it. This is one thing that seperates law abiding citizens and criminals. It is a good reason to make arrests. I also feel the instruction and proficiency test we have now is to lax. I would be all for more places to cary with more instruction. I would love to be able to cary at school. I would also be willing to go through a very strict class and a very difficult proficiency test to show ability and responsibility to do so. If some one wants to have a pistol on their person hiding out of sigt, I think they need to know how to use it and how to operate it well enough to limit injuries to people around them if they do need to use it.

I agree. I have had one since they came out 15? years ago. The proficiency part of the permit class is a joke, (Can you hit the broadside of a barn?), but the legalities portion of the class is very useful. In a nutshell, everything you should consider before you shoot somebody, and if you do shoot someone, keep your mouth completely shut until you talk to your lawyer.

The poll question needs to be re-phrased, "Are you for or against, yes or no" don't work.

I don't know the specifics of this bill, but I am for more people carrying concealed. Criminals don't take classes or get permits to conceal their weapons, why should ordinary law abiding citizens? I do think it is a good idea to be proficient and know the law before carrying a weapon concealed or otherwise...I just don't want my government mandating additional expenses and roadblocks to something that is a freedom given to us by the people that founded our country. Just my 2 cents worth.

The 2nd Amendment is my CCW.

Exactly!

Why should I have to pay money to carry concealed? Criminals have guns ilegally anyway so what does a concealed permit do for them. I haven't taken the class so does that make me a non laaw abiding citizen? I support this bill!

I find it interesting that people make that statement.

Do you actually think criminals take the law into consideration?

I'm for it.

However, I do think people should pass an exam before they can breed.

I am against it! Criminals are going to hide their weapons anyway. Thats a given.

If this passes, a whole new wave of people are going to be carrying guns, that may or may not understand the laws and grey areas of self defense.

If someone is serious about CC, they should be instructed and go through the process. The last thing we need is a bunch of gun toting yahoo's, shooting each other for a parking space at Wal-Mart ;)

Don't get me wrong. I believe it is the right of every american to own and carry a gun, but like Chef said, there are people who should not be allowed to breed, and therefor not allowed to carry a gun.

I used to have the permit from 15 years ago and let it laps. I am for this law change. I agree with chef on this one for sure.

I know they dont follow the law. Say some one is commiting a crime, having a gun on them turns it into a felony (regardless of concealed or not). If the law, as it is now, adds charges to criminals comiting crimes im all for keeping it in effect. Add the charge of illegaly concealing a weapon, turn him into a three time looser. Im not worried about guys who grew up around fire arms. Im worried about Jo Shmo who got his dad's pistol when he passed away and decides it would be a good idea to keep it in his britches all the time. This law will increase the number of ignorant people concealing weapons. Im usually against anything that limits our freedoms, but not everyone who owns guns knows how to use them profeciently.

The legal aspect of the class is very imformative but I coulda have passed the shooting part with spit wads. How would you feel if some ignorant person who has never shot a pistol decides to defend his life and accidently kills an innocent bystandard, perhaps someone you care about?

This new law will mainly be those that pack a gun anyways will now be able to conceal it. Believe me there are some nutty people that have the permit. They even sell badges that say ccw on them.oh joy.

I am also a CCW holder and I support this law. On the one side I do agree that the class is very informative and does give a person a better understanding of the law, but way more important to me is the fact that we are actually getting some of our 2A RIGHTS back! It's not very often these days when a persons rights are restored... especially concerning guns. Our country has been going backwards for a long time and in my mind this is finally a huge step in the right direction!!!

I highlighted the important part. I think everyone should have the right to defend his/her life. I certainly don't need anyone in a business suit deciding what I can and cannot do in regards to protecting my life.

We can go to town with the "what if's" it really doesn't get us anywhere. People do stupid things, like drive drunk, a bad thing can happen to me or someone I care about at anytime from negligence.

Women who want to carry to defend themselves may now have the option to carry in their purse. I'm for that as well.

I respect your decision. I'm simply answering the question asked.

I understand your side as well. Im all for people being able to defend their own life. I dont want more ignorant people toting around guns, but i guess im hopin for somethin that will never happen. It would be nice if more people were responsible enough to know how to use their defence weapon well. I think the majority, if not all the people on here, who carry do know how to use their pistols. I dont like people telling me what to do either. People do do stupid things like you mentioned. My dad always said you cant fix stupid. He was right.

I would feel worse if the ignorant person was killed because he could not defend his life from a criminal who doesn't give a pile of Condor crap about a CCW, background checks, or any other law.

the right to keep and BEAR ARMS...shall not be infringed...especially by some DC boot licker.
