when is it going to be MY turn

Recommended Posts

The pain

I have been going out for the past 6 years with friends and family who have been drawn, helping them scout , pack, driving, camping, cooking, bugling, calling, pointing the shooter the right direction and to top it off working to get 700 lb out of the woods.

I will be the first one in this group of hopeless no permit having hunters to say that WE LIE when they tell you “I’m so happy you shot that 390 bull” that I handed to you on a silver platter. It was fun the first 6 times, but you know WHAT, when is it going to be MY turn Damit. PEOPLE I AM here today to tell you rise up against your fellow elk hunter who has been drawn for the past three year in a row and tell him or her that’s I will not help you, For you are on your own this year. I WILL NOT give you my secret spot any longer for some day in the DISTANT future I will have a tag in my rotten old hands and then realize that there is a sky scraper built there about twenty years ago. Regardless read this letter that I’m sending to you I WILL NOT HELP THIS YEAR

on the week of September 11 I have to go help my mother in-law but the week after I’m all yours. PS Don’t tell the wife

Somebody get this man a TAG!!!!

There are opportunities to hunt elk every year outside AZ, if not hunting is causing you so much pain, try another state, in just over 7 hours you could be hunting elk in Colorado (driving distance from FH) in an OTC area. Sure it will cost you about $400 (for bull) more and the size of elk are smaller....Idaho also has OTC.....

Scratch that itch in another state......

No kidding.. AZ isn't the only place to chase elk.. Head up to CO or ID and go hunting!!

6 years is nothing compared to guys with max points (or very close to it) and not drawing..

my dad was drawn 19 years in a row. We put in together and he has not seen an elk tag since.....17 years now. He is a little discouraged at the system.

  That is funny Jeremy...remind me not to put in with you :)

We put everyone in our family in seperate for elk and antelope. That way we hope at least one tag will get drawn. It kind of backfired when 3 of 4 of us got elk tags this year. I just to like to elk hunt and would rather go alot than wait 10 to 20 years for an early bull tag. Whenever my wife gets rich in the future I will buy a Governors tag and then get a big one.  Yeah right..........! :(

Colorado is a very fun place. I went last year and watched my arrow go over the back of a cow and had many close encounters with Bulls and other Cows. I could get the Bulls to hang just not commit to me. The tags are $530.00 for either sex OTC and $350.00 for cow only OTC. There is a lot of country and a lot of fun to be had. I wish I could go this year but I am not able to. Good luck.
