GRoemke Report post Posted August 12, 2005 I had a little extra time on Thursday, so my Dad and I ran down to our 36B just to get a look and feel for the unit. We didn't have much time, so we decided we'd mostly just plan on acquainting ourselves with the roads and the lay of the land. Honestly, I was surprised at just how beautiful the country is down there! Wow, it has to be on the list of some of the prettiest country in AZ. And, we ran down to Arivaca Lake, and the fish were literally jumping out of the water and some type of insect hatch. Nice size fish, too! I would have given my eye teeth for my ugly stick or my fly rod. While we were out and glassing, we spotted a few bucks. Which led me to wonder if all the rain and water has allowed the deer to roam a bit more then normal, or do they tend to stay within a certain defined area. I think read on the site that they tend to stay within 1.5 mile of good water, but with so much water flowing I wondered if they moved a bit more? Thanks, Greg

WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted August 15, 2005 GR- I think that with all the water they will tend to move less. They have all they need in one spot. I spent a 2 days down in 36a and most of the deer I saw stayed in the same area (within a hundred yards) from morning to night. And likewise most of the deer I saw in the evening were pretty close to the same spot the next morning. Well anyway it was sure good to see all the water, looks to be a good year.
