Broken Wheels Report post Posted February 8, 2011 Akuritone just completed my 30-378 and as expected it was another piece of art work and I am extremely pleased with the end product! It isn't for everyone but those willing to try will more then likely be satisfied with the end result as well and its like having a new weapon when it is done. Thanks again Jeff for a great job!! AntlerObsession Report post Posted March 28, 2011 How much would it be to do a pickup truck... in the snakeskin? :b Jeff, how much materials/cost would it take to do a REM 700 stock, tripod, and would you ever do a barrel/action, spotting scope or binoculars with it? akuritone Report post Posted March 31, 2011 @AntlerObsession The particular kit I purchased would have easily done a full stock and tripod. The kit was 100 bucks. Actions and barrels can be done too although I probably wouldn't attemt it. Optics can also be dipped as long as they are waterproof. This process is really all about the preperation of the material. It has to be rough enough for the paint to adhere and COMPLETELY free of any oil or dust. The 30-378 and 30-06 Broken Wheels mentioned were actually a different product and process all together. They were done using DuraCoat. It is basically an epoxy type paint. Again, preperation of material is key here. The camo dip kit was educational. It was a very time consuming process. I am fairly impressed with the durability of the stuff. I use the pictured triopd quite a bit and its has held up well. The DuraCoat is probably the way I will go from now on. You dont get the licensed camo patterns but with a little creativity, you can have a pretty slick looking outcome. Lots of info on archerytalk.com regarding the camo dip. Lots of pictures too. WalkingW Report post Posted June 23, 2011 How much would it be to do a pickup truck... in the snakeskin? :b Jeff, how much materials/cost would it take to do a REM 700 stock, tripod, and would you ever do a barrel/action, spotting scope or binoculars with it? Here is a pic of my 223 I did in the Gods country camo. I have done two full rifles now one was a old mauser that I started out on more of joke than anything the base was "Pink :-)". It was a co-workers that was always joking around. It actualy turned out nice. You need to know a little gunsmithing and prep is everything. Good luck
tinwall Report post Posted January 10, 2012 Nice look on the camo rifle... I think a bigger item like a truck would need a camo wrap instead of a dipping... Here is one option http://www.camo4u.com - but they do not have snakeskin, just mostly camo...
tinwall Report post Posted February 28, 2012 I know the pro-grade dip kits at www.camodipkit.com give you a sprayer to use, or you can use your own airbrush or paint gun...
Hunting6 Report post Posted March 2, 2012 Has anyone ever played with this ? http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/ looks like you have the same prep work to do, but you need a sprayer and some type of oven the part can fit into.
tinwall Report post Posted March 15, 2012 Here is a good option for larger things like ATVs or Trucks - http://www.camo4u.com

tinwall Report post Posted June 1, 2012 looks like you have the same prep work to do, but you need a sprayer and some type of oven the part can fit into. So you have to bake your item? Never heard of that process....
