A couple of Buffleheads

Recommended Posts

Down at the little pond in the meadow of Kachina Village, these two buffleheads kept their distance and were a little too far out and moving to capture good feather detail before taking to the air. The warm days have melted plenty of snow made the meadow in to a shallow pond of slowly moving water which has attracted plenty of mallards, coots, and a few goldeneye and bufflehead.

Thanks. tis a long time till duck season, so figure one needs to put a little wood on the fire to keep it warm, so to speak.

Tried again to find some cooperative waterfowl this morning down in Pumphouse Wash below the meadow. A pair of mallards and the morning ice were there. I'll get a close-up of a duck sometime in the right light.

The Little Colorado River is flowing, so it's off to Grand Falls near Leupp this afternoon.

Great pictures as usual Doug. You are an artist. Those quacker pics make me want to take up waterfouling again. Thanks for the inspiration.
