krp Report post Posted March 13, 2010 Went down to work on my friend's place and did a little fishing. Didn't land anything big but the yellowtail were crazy on top spoons and picked up a decent halibut jigging. Broke off two big groupers and had two other bites. I made some good eats with the Halibut and then the yellowtail with ribeyes. If we had just concentrated on yellows it would have been fast action the whole time, only had a few hours each of two days so spent the majority of time going after groupers. Here's some pictures and a video of a yellow, usually don't video yellows but it was what were biting... Kent
GameHauler Report post Posted March 13, 2010 Looks like you had a great time. Wish you could have fished more. Thanks for sharing and making me hungry.
krp Report post Posted March 13, 2010 I really enjoy going down no matter, It's real down there, no tourists, cantina, restaurant. Just a plywood store that sells great tortillas and fresh veggies to make salsa, potatoes and such. Self sufficient is what it's all about. only 5 americans and 2 Mex that have sportfishing boats. I've never seen another boat but pongas and shrimpers. If the wind's bad there is always next time. 6 hrs driving, 360 miles. Kent

krp Report post Posted March 14, 2010 I put this up last June, Keith and I fishing with Ted. there was a bunch of interest but Ted wasn't guiding, just now decided too. If there is still interest I will see if Amanda will take a fishing sponsor. Speak up. I've known Ted for a long time, He used to fish the national bass circuits in the 90's, been on TV with Roland Martian and such, invented the gitzit. Great guy, fun, we've fished together from San Diego, to Cabo, to Apache lake, to San Carlos, ect. He knows his stuff. Kent
bonecollector Report post Posted March 14, 2010 Looks like a great place to go. Thats a cool looking rig there!
billrquimby Report post Posted March 14, 2010 I opened www.lobosfishing.com and found some nifty photos and a couple of paragraphs of text puffing the quality of fishing, but there was no information about prices or how to contact Mr. Miller. Is this due to my primitive dial-up modem or is there really nothing else there? Bill Quimby
krp Report post Posted March 14, 2010 I just looked and there was a heading for pricing on the front page. He just made the website a couple weeks ago. I wasn't going to try to promote Ted here unless there is enough interest for me to buy him a sponsorship from Amanda. He's a good friend and I've fished off his boat for free enough that I should do it for him, he doesn't frequent sites like this. He'll be back up in a couple weeks and I'll contact Amanda then. 250.00 per day for the boat, he can take scuba divers to the islands also. 300.00 per person a day for staying at his house, food, fishing 1800.00 for a week, two days travel, five fishing For the more than two days you can just ride down with him from the valley, or pay fuel for shorter trips. The fishing is for real, remember when Rocky point, Cabo, San Carlos were rumors of great fishing years ago before the Gringo invasions..... development..... here's your chance. I've kept the secret for a few years, with the opening of the new super highway going to Kino, it won't be a secret any longer. Ted is a pool builder here in the valley, he's an engineer that worked in the Superior mine with some friends of mine I went to highschool with, after the copper crash in the 80s he went into professional bass fishing, Bill Dance, Shaw, Martian, he was one of those guys. It was a racket back then and his last tournament he won, the 50.000 check bounced, the truck he won wasn't paid for so no go, the boat he won was the same as the truck, dealer sponsor took it back. He had enough. He is top quality and one of the funnest guys to fish with bar none. If you go, hope you like buckwheat pancakes, he makes them from scratch. Kent Kent That price of 250$ per day is for up to 3 people so really its only about 85$ per day per person , For that option you will just need to get yourself to lobos, find a place to camp out, and bring your own food. And coordinate the times with Ted. There are great places to camp on the beach or rent small houses ( no electricity or running water) for less than 40 $ per day, or you can sleep on my back patio for free anytime. Its right on the ocean. In the summer the snorkeling is great too. Kent is right, Ted is a great guide and an even better person, just a chance to fish with him is worth the price of admission. Outdoor Writer Report post Posted March 18, 2010 Although I haven't been there for years, I started going to Lobos and camping on the beach in the early 1960s. This a photo of my youngest son, Scott, while he was fishing for sea trout. It was taken on New Year's Day, 1969. His mother told him not to get too close to the water. While fishing there one year with a good friend, I had a seagull pick up my silver Kastmaster and get hooked. It took me about 15 minutes to reel it in and let it loose. And man, was I ever dizzy after turning in circles for that long.
