mattys281 Report post Posted March 11, 2010 Need 8-12 guys to book a private hunt on the Tejon. I know some of you stick-flingers got skunked in the spring draw, so who's interested? The price is $388 per person ($375 for the hunt + $13 for liability insurance), + a CA pig tag ($66.15 for nonres) & a Ca hunt license ($143.35 for nonres or $41.20 for a nonres 2-day lic.). The dates I have in mind are 5/15-5/16 (Sat. & Sun.). Would need the fees for the ranch & the pig tags to be sent to the ranch by first week or so of April to reserve the spots. I will be driving out from the Phoenix area & can fit 6 others besides myself in my Commander & will pull a trailer for gear & to bring home hogs. If more want to go, we can look into renting a van or something. I don't have a lot of time to frequent forums these days, so if someone's interested, please contact me at mattys281@yahoo.com. DesertBull Report post Posted March 12, 2010 It's a great hunt. I've been several times. Not canned. You will have to hunt and be good shape because it's friggen steep. Unless they have changed the rules, you can't use a 2-day non-res license and you must have the pig tag and license before you reserve the hunt. It's been a year since I have been over there, so maybe they changed the procedure. Good luck.

That was not mentioned to me yesterday, but I will send the hunt coordinator an email this morning & find out for certain. She DID say that you do have to send in the pig tags w/ the applications, so the WILL have to be bought early. Thanks for the correction DB. Also, I've received a couple emails asking about the terrain & type of hunting. It is unguided, spot & stalk. The terrain is hilly, grass, oaks & scrub brush. You can see pics at their website, just click on the link. http://www.hunttejon.com The ranch is 270,000 acres & the pigs are free to roam right off it. It is definetely not canned. mattys281 Report post Posted March 12, 2010 I sent an email to the ranch this morning regarding the 2-day or full year license. Still have not heard from them, so I'm planning on calling them on Monday. Would have called today, but I've been out of my office almost all day.
mattys281 Report post Posted March 17, 2010 Spoke w/ the hunt coordinator yesterday & DB is right, you have to have the regular license ($143.35 for non-res.). Apparently the 2-day license is only valid for hunting birds & varmits, so you can't buy a pig tag with it in Ca. Sorry for the misinformation.
ibowhuntaz Report post Posted March 18, 2010 I will be at the Kaibab looking for mr Tom gobbler that weekend or I would be signing up for this. I did Choppers hunt a couple years ago and it was some great fun and awesome country. Maybe another time. Ron
mattys281 Report post Posted March 18, 2010 I got a couple guys who say they're in for sure, but not close to 8 yet. I'll keep searchin for stickflingers til mid April or so, then if we don't have enough, we'll head over for the public hunt in June.
