I have been watching the several claims on TV about the one guy who was driving down the road and all the sudden his car accelerated to 94 mph.

He is even talking on the phone to 911 declaring he doesn't know how to get his car to stop, the brakes aren't working.

Is there something about these new cars that I don't understand, I mean can't you just reach down and turn the ignition off and slow roll to a stop???

I realize that my 79 Ford truck is way behind the technology zone, but honestly........... :(

I heard on the Prius you can't shift to neutral while you are driving. Still you would think to turn off the engine and then coast to a stop. The steering wheel should not lock unless the key is removed. Toyota still has some explaining to do IMO.

you guys ever take a good look at the folks that drive them things? ain't none of em got a full stringer o' fish. and their bumpers are all covered with greenpeacin', wolf lovin', global warmin', obama worshippin' stickers. they are morons. what i love is how they thing they're savin' the world with their little hybrids when studies say you'd hafta drive one about 20 years in order to make up for the amount of pollution that goes into the batteries. and the batteries are only good for about 5 years. but like i said, they're morons so it don't much matter. Go to YouTube and type in: 2010 Toyota Prius brake problems. Easy fix. Amazing documentary

*NSFW f-bombs dropping left and right, but he gets his car to stop, shut down, etc.

(actually the guy may be related to Lark)

I watched Mr. Toyoto or whatever his name is, explaining things to the congressional committee(using an interpreter)

He said they are going to install a safety system on all new cars that is supposed to shut down the accelerator when the brake is applied.

He sure danced around the question of what they are going to do to existing cars.

I bet a few Toyota engineers got their butts handed to them.

I too watched some of it and it amazed me how our windbag reps would take 10 minutes asking a question and then the interpreter translated what was important in about 10 seconds and then Mr. Toyota would respond.

I really wish our JackAr$$ reps would quit playing to the cameras and do what they were elected to do...Represent Us.

Except that Fords are made in Mexico and Toyotas are made in Tennesee.

Did the guy get a citation for talking on his cell phone while driving? Going 94 miles an hour and talking on your cell phone is a good way to get into an accident!!! Stupid people are going to get someone killed!!!
