CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Floyd Green of the Outdoorsmans asked me to post his opinion on this: Arizona Sportsman, Please support this legislation, it is one of the most important piece's of legislation we will ever have the opportunity to pass. I personally worked with numerous other sportsman, through out Governor Hulls election in an effort to have an opportunity to sit in the Governor's office and ask for Commissioner Goightlys appointment to the commission. I have done this numerous times over the last thirty years regarding other commission appointments and I can tell you first hand, the comments I am hearing from these previous commissioners in this forum is not reality. The truth is, that those that help elect politicians have input and all the rest of the folks get good government. Our state and our wildlife deserves better. Today's reality is quite simple. A group of hard working unselfish volunteers, that work on the behalf of all sportsman in the state of Arizona have carefully drafted this legislation in conjunction with our states finest conservation groups. To deliver this opportunity to you the sportsman of Arizona. Please join with me in contacting your friends and legislators asking them to support this bill. Thanks Floyd Green

Dick Report post Posted March 8, 2010 How fair is that to the common guy who does not belong to the good ole boys clubs. Is it any wonder why many of the Conservation/Sportsmens groups quit attending Commission meetings. This seemed to be an attuttde that was obvious many times! Is it any wonder the players want to see change? Dick King
Guest spcheuvront Report post Posted March 8, 2010 My name is Steve Cheuvront, and I support the bill. The two commissioners, that are making coments, are the very reason for this bill. Mike, those of us that watched your performance over those many years, would always shake our heads at how you could cause so much harm to wildlife, in the name of conservation. Bill Mc/ Gold Canyon, your opinions and total disrespect for those of us who took our time to speak before the commission, did a great deal to destroy the relations between the commission and the public. Your greatest hour was when you condemed the survey performed by the sportsmen and AZGFD. NO one in the commission hearing believed one word you said, not even you. That left the door open for the most corrupt survey in history to come into play, and wildlife still suffers today for your actions. bonuspointjohn Report post Posted March 9, 2010 To all who took the time to vote, I thank you. At the meeting of the stakeholders today in the Senate, it was quite obvious that the Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife and a couple of other groups look at this as a terrible bill. A couple of former Commissioners also were there. Bill McLean from Gold Canyon and Tom Woods both of whom objected to the bill. At this point it looks as if we will agree to disagree. Senator John Nelson did a fine job of chairing what could have been a contentious meeting. Certainly, tempers were on edge. Senator Nelson, after listening to all the comments (almost 2 hours) said that he understands the feelings of Sportsmen that we want a proportional say in the Commission since we proportionally pay over 60 % of the departments funding. That said, be prepared for a blitz of e-mails from the Sierra Club and disgruntled former Commissioners. It is amazing that while they profess that wildlife is for all of the citizens of Arizona and held in trust for all Arizona citizens, they feel quite comfortable in letting the sportsmen carry over 60% of the financial burden.....But hey... it's only our money.....Thanks again for your input and votes....BPJ
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 9, 2010 Thank you John for taking the time to go represent sportsmen at the meeting. I know several other conservation groups were there arguing for the bill as well. Thanks to all for your dedication, I know it takes a lot of time. wetmule Report post Posted March 9, 2010 Bill and Mike as former commissioners privy to information on the Dept's accounting, you must know how many dollars the Center For Biological Adversity, Sierra Club et al., has raised for wildlife in the state of Arizona? Please enlighten us as to just how much those groups have given back to the Dept.? I'd like to know. I have a feeling we will be waiting a long time. Fact is those groups exist and raise money to fund their endless supply of attorneys and litigation, against the likes of sportsmen and women. I for one find it fascinating and a little ironic that a former commissioner(s) who sat in the big middle chair, would in a public forum call out those many VOLUNTEERS, sportsmen and women who have spent countless hours giving back to the Dept. and this states wildlife along with raising untold dollars for this states wildlife, by calling them "ego charged". As someone who attended many commission meetings it wasn't hard to figure out just who was ego charged.

mason a Report post Posted March 9, 2010 I voted for this 100% Look at the numbers for those in favor. We as members of cwt are true sportsman, We are passionate about the outdoors, And look forward to pass that on to our children. Look how we voted!! Bill and Mike make it sound like under the current method of being appointed to commissioner, It's almost impossible for anyone to make it through the gauntlet , Unless you are a true sportsman ,Passionate about preserving your rights to hunt and fish and enjoy our state. Well enough said , That is way supporting sb1200 and hb2189 is important. The sierra club has an agenda , A horrible one for the true outdoorsman. I was so happy to see basically all the votes in favor of this bill from the members of this forum!! I know this is a day late, but I just wanted to vent
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 9, 2010 You guys can continue to vote in the poll. Monday was just a meeting with the senator, but I am sure John would still like to see voting continue. The issue is not over yet. So if you feel strongly either way, please feel free to add your vote and comments. Also, you might to attend or at least watch the AGFD commission meeting today. I think we will be able to watch it online, although not the executive session part. Amanda
