Webber Report post Posted March 2, 2010 Just a question, paying the full amount up front gonna keep more out of staters from putting in for NM, what does everyone think? Its one or the other not elk and deer together for me.
soazarcher Report post Posted March 2, 2010 Yup, we should see a spike in draw odds because of the stiff up-front fees. I know it changed our application strategy.
SunDevil Report post Posted March 2, 2010 yep - no antelope or elk apps for me this year. deer only.
TLH Report post Posted March 2, 2010 I always apply for antelope in New Mexico and this year is no different. It is like here in Arizona when we could not apply on line for the entry fee--you would think it would have changed the amount of people applying but in fact it did not! There were more people who applied! I don't think you NM folks will see much of a change at all over there.
ehunt Report post Posted March 2, 2010 It should help the odds now that you have to upfront the fees. I know last year when they made you pay for sheep upfront the number of applications was cut in half!
Rio Report post Posted March 2, 2010 I think it'll have an initial impact for the first couple of years, but will level off in 2-3 years. The biggest benefit I think will be that folks will not be entering the entire family along with the dog and cat, flooding the total applications.
