azryan Report post Posted February 21, 2010 I was at the Mesa SW the other day and saw that they had gotten the new El's in. I looked through a pair of 10x42's, my first impression was that they felt like they were not made with as much quality as the older EL. I guess you could say "cheaper" in a sense. The focus knob is supposed to be more superior to the older design. It took me awhile to get accustomed to it. I could tell a difference in the glass, although not much, but the clarity seemed to be a tad better and colors seemed more vibrant. Not a huge difference but there was definitely one to me. I was disappointed in the eyecups, I did not find them very comfortable. Overall just as a first impression I was not impressed. They carry a hefty price tag as well, $2500. I do not feel like I would have much more of an advantage with the new EL over the older model.
