Coues Sniper Report post Posted February 9, 2010 big sharp ones! +1 I'd go with a SilverFlame 2 blade http://www.german-kinetics.com/html/broadheads.html Awesome, awesome broadheads for larger game. Pricey, but when penetration is at a premium...
coues4u Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Thanks for the info guys, I just bought a dozen Carbon Express Maxima Hunter arrows and the Slick Trick 100 grain 4 blade broadheads. I think this will do the job on a bear
russd Report post Posted February 10, 2010 i shot a bear last year with a g5 broadhead. busted straight through the chest and kept on flying. i never found the arrow. bear was in a tree and was pretty much dead when it hit the ground.
.270 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 i've kilt b'ars with bows. but it was back in the stoneage. one extree big one i used 2420 xx75's and a 125 grain wasp camlok. full lengthed him from right flank to left shoulder by the neck. bears are no tougher to kill than anything else with a bow. blackies anyway. never chased the brown variety. one thing, when you stick one, take off after him and try to keep him in sight. the fat can close off and they might leave little to no blood trail. don't do the back off and wait deal. good chance you won't find him.
