No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties.. But this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession.

 

Just think, Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary from her husband's salary.

there used to be some pretty die hard obama supporters on this site. what happened to em? i'd like to see somebody try to justify this. one time me and another guy were reading the paper and sittin' around the office just bein' bums for a few minutes and i read where one of the williams tennis players, venus or serena one, can't remember which one, anyway, she took a bath eveyday in perrier mineral water. cost a couple hunnerd bucks a day. the other guy said "now they're just spendin' money". this is exactly what anyone who would spend that much on one meal is doing. just spending money because they can. even tho it's our money. we raised 5 kids. coulda fed em all, real well and real healthy, for a long time for that much. just spendin' money. guess it's a lot like her ol' man's cure for the economy, spend, spend, spend. again, somebody defend this kinda crap. I get completely sick of the slanted press on each side of the political isle. Looks like the Canda Free Press could have done a bit of simple research and figure-out that it wasn't so much of an "unprecedented number of staffers....". Definitely hard to wade through all of the BS.

I did not support our president during his campaign, I am on the opposite side of the political spectrum. I just get sick of lies in the media regardless on which side of the issue they are lying about. Unfortunately there is a lot of slime on both side of the aisle and it oozes from most of the press as well.

 

I concur Two terms may be fine for any office, it is the career politicians that make things worse. It should be public service, not live on the public.

 

If they never got re-elected maybe they would spend the first half of their terms figuring stuff out then we would have half as many laws and taxes and the US would be twice as nice a place to live.

There is NO Way that is a real reciept of her snack. And a quick snope and google of this heavily forwarded email reveals the propaganda this is. It is B.S. like this from both sides that will keep me solidly in the middle. Why the right has to feed off this stuff when there is an ample amount of real fact filled info to push a political view.......I pity the people that swallow this stuff whole and forward it along.
