Training a bird dog

I will be getting a new pup Brittney Spaniel this spring would like to train her my self any good books or info on do it yourself dog training you can recommend would be greatly appreciated .

 

Or is it worth investing in pro training. I am in the Tucson area

It's definately worth thinking about a pro. A lot depends on what you want. If you want a trial capable dog, then finding a trainer would be a good idea for your first dog. Now up in Coolidge is Desert Pheasant Rec http://pheasantrec.com/ . You can buy a membership, and go there every day if you wish, and they will work with you to train your pup. the desert pheasant is owned by a lady named arlette.... she is a awesome lady and gave me alot of tips for my bird dog, i have a gsp. but she breeds britts and she will give you alot of knowledge. i would talk to her

Also, you may find a local chapter of a pointing dog club. If you live in the valley (or basin for 620 listeners) there's the AZPDC.
