hello - the only advise i can give on the subject of hog hunting - - unless you are limited to 1-2-3 pigs - most hunts include all the varmits you see.--Take every weapon you own rifle - pistol - all types of bows - ML's - see how many you can kill with a different weapon each pig!- don't limit yourself!- have fun -

Tons of pigs have been killed using bow-arrows - check out all of this link -- ought to answer your question ---

I like to hunt them with a bow. However on some ranches the morning hunt is like fifteen minutes long and the hogs are moving into cover fast so a gun is a good option for the morning hunt.

Use heavy arrows with cut on contact broadheads. If you are going beyond the middle of march, night hunting may be the best option once it warms up. You will need some sort of sight light with a dimmer.

They are one of my favorite animals to hunt. If you are not going to mount a boar I would just shoot sows and littles ones because they taste so good. Boars tend to be a little gamey once they get over a 100lbs. So they are all sausage.

Have fun and let us know how you do

I'm sure you"ll have a blast! Their vitals are pretty small, forward and low. I prefer to aim right below shouder and that will put them down fast w an arrow. If you shoot them like your trying to "double lung" a deer, you might not recover him. Good Luck, shoot straight!

I've hunted hogs on a ranch South of Amarillo 4 different times. Intend to return again in April. We only archery hunt, sitting on feeders or spot and stalk. It's an absolute blast. They seem to have a heavy cartilage plate behind the shoulder that protects the vitals. Because of this, the property owner insists on fixed broadheads, no mechanicals. I have had only one pass through. Ive seen discussion on this site regarding the quality of the meat. In my opinion, it's excellent. Have Fun!
