DEERSLAM Report post Posted July 29, 2005 Went scouting this past weekend to checkout a unit I was drawn for this Oct. in my home state. Haven't been there in about 20 years and my uncle, who was also drawn, hasn't been there in about 5 or 6 years. Well long story short- closed gates, no trespassing, no hunting, access to favorite old hunting grounds blocked by private landowners in between National forest and BLM. What a bummer. The good news, I've got all of Aug. and Sept. to get it figured out. I've already talked to the local Biologist and have got the names of landowners, ordered updated maps and talked to some oldtimers from the area. Planning another scouting trip for Aug. and with new knowledge things should go much better. Moral of the story, if you have never been there or it's been awhile, CHECK IT OUT NOW!!
